About The Position

The City of O’Fallon, Missouri, is hiring a safety-focused Service Route Operator in its Environmental Services Department. This position supports reliable solid waste collection across established community routes. The operator inspects and operates vehicles and equipment, collects refuse and recyclable materials, maintains and delivers containers, and assists with snow removal. The role also involves customer service and completing related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• One to two years of relevant experience or completion of an apprenticeship or internship.
• Ability to obtain a valid Missouri Class B CDL with air brakes.
• Knowledge of solid waste collection methods and equipment.
• Understanding of departmental procedures and safety regulations.
• Ability to read maps and understand city geography.
• Skill in operating refuse trucks and troubleshooting basic vehicle issues.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment.
• Operate refuse trucks to collect refuse, recyclables, yard waste, and bulk waste.
• Clean, deliver, and assemble refuse and recycling containers.
• Perform preventive maintenance and routine cleaning of vehicles and equipment.
• Assist with snow removal operations.
• Provide customer service and complete related duties as assigned.
• Complete assigned routes efficiently and safely.
