About The Position

Sharps Medical Waste Services is hiring a Route Service Technician (Box Truck Driver) to service assigned accounts efficiently while delivering excellent customer service. The role involves operating a 26 ft. straight truck safely, complying with DOT and state regulations, and following company safety and compliance policies. The position provides paid training, company-provided uniforms, health benefits, tuition reimbursement, vacation/PTO after 90 days, and a Stay-On bonus. Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
At least two years of customer service experience.
Completion of an accredited driving school or at least one year of commercial driving experience.
Current driver’s license with an excellent driving record.
Current Medical Examiner’s Certification (MEC).
Ability to work safely and carefully to prevent injury while driving, loading, and unloading the vehicle.
Ability to read maps and demonstrate good computer skills.
Ability to regularly carry 25–50 lbs and occasionally carry up to 75 lbs.
Ability to push or pull carts up to 500 lbs using mechanical aids or manual effort.
Must be at least 25 years old and have driving experience.
Ability to work in all weather conditions and adapt to a dynamic work environment.
Safety toe work boots with slip-resistant soles and a Bluetooth headphone system are required.

Nice To Haves

Previous route management experience.
CDL Class B.

Responsibilities

Pick up and transport waste safely according to federal, state, and local regulations.
Plan daily schedules based on customer needs by reviewing manifests, route sheets, and other documentation provided by supervisors or dispatchers.
Prepare and load trucks with necessary supplies for daily service.
Ensure customer waste is properly packaged and ready for transport.
Provide excellent customer service to assigned accounts and communicate issues to supervisors or dispatchers.
Secure waste, supplies, and equipment before operating the vehicle on public roads.
Complete required paperwork legibly and accurately, including DOT Driver Logs if applicable.
Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and promptly report maintenance issues.
Adapt to fast-paced and changing work environments while maintaining safety standards.
Perform other duties as assigned.
