About The Position

The Server at Vermejo Reserve is responsible for creating a hospitable atmosphere and memorable dining experiences for guests. The role involves describing menu items and recommending food pairings, staying attentive to guests on the floor, and coordinating with kitchen staff to provide efficient service. Servers follow cleanliness, sanitation, health, and safety procedures; complete assigned opening and closing side work; and participate in food and beverage education outside regular service. They must practice alcohol awareness and comply with New Mexico state laws when serving alcohol. This is not a management or supervisory position. This is an evergreen opportunity for seasonal, hourly, non-exempt, non-benefits-eligible positions. Qualified applicants may be considered for current or future openings as hiring needs arise. The position is based at Vermejo headquarters, approximately 40 miles from Raton, New Mexico, and requires living on site in company dorm-style housing, subject to availability. Employees should be comfortable living and working in an isolated mountain environment with limited access to shopping, dining, and other services, and must arrange their own transportation to and from Raton for personal supplies. The job regularly requires standing, sitting, walking, hand and finger movement, reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, balancing, crouching, crawling, lifting, shaking, pouring, carrying, pushing, and talking or hearing. Employees may need to lift or carry trays and other items weighing up to 50 pounds, perform physical labor for extended periods, and remain on their feet for extended periods. Slip-resistant shoes or boots are required. The role requires close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Employees regularly work long hours and may encounter wet or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, toxic or caustic chemicals, and occasional vibration. The noise level is usually low to moderate. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
