About The Position

The Server welcomes residents and helps create a warm, social dining-room atmosphere. The role includes greeting and engaging residents, preparing tables and food-service items, keeping dining areas clean, and communicating observations about residents’ eating habits or absences from meals to supervisors and Wellness staff. The position is part-time at Buckingham in Saint Joseph, Missouri, with shifts on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Pay is $15–$22 per hour.

Requirements

• Be at least 16 years of age.
• Read, write, understand, and communicate in English at a minimum of 8th-grade proficiency.
• Have a positive, energetic attitude and enjoy working with residents.
• Be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and stoop throughout the day.
• Frequently lift and/or move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Be able to assist residents with sitting, standing, and walking, and assist persons after a fall.
• Receive criminal clearance.

Responsibilities

• Greet residents, help them feel welcome, and be present and engaging in the dining room.
• Prepare tables, salads, silverware, and other items for meal service.
• Bus tables and sweep floors to maintain clean dining areas.
• Notify supervisors and Wellness staff about poor dietary habits, unusual changes in appetite, or residents absent from meals.
• Assist residents with sitting, standing, and walking, and assist persons after a fall.
