About The Position

The Server at The Hand and The Eye takes food and beverage orders and efficiently delivers items to dining room guests. The role involves providing attentive service, maintaining food safety and sanitation standards, understanding menu items and ingredients, and coordinating with back-of-house staff to ensure accurate orders and accommodate special requests. Servers also help maintain a clean, safe, and properly set up dining room and may support other departments during special events and functions.

Responsibilities

Promptly and warmly greet dining room guests and take food and beverage orders while following established steps of service.
Deliver food promptly and professionally, maintain safe food handling and sanitation standards, and follow up with guests about additional needs or requests.
Understand menu items and ingredients; advise guests on food and drink combinations, accommodate reasonable requests, note preferences, and demonstrate knowledge of specialized diets and allergens as needed.
Communicate with back-of-house staff to ensure orders are delivered correctly and special requests are accommodated.
Communicate effectively and remain flexible and patient when interacting with guests and staff.
Collect tickets and follow proper cash-handling procedures.
Promote a clean, safe, and neat environment for guests.
Maintain sensitivity and confidentiality regarding personal or medical information shared by guests.
Address complaints or issues promptly and relay relevant information or complaints to a supervisor.
Set up the dining room before service, maintain its cleanliness during service, and restore it after service while meeting sanitation standards.
Operate equipment including fire extinguishers, telephones, iced tea and soda machines, soup wells, and coffee machines.
Work with staff from other departments to perform job duties during special events and functions.
Perform other duties as assigned.
