About The Position

The Server works in The Elysian Bar’s all-day restaurant, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The role is responsible for attentive, knowledgeable service, including taking orders, delivering food and beverages, and anticipating guest needs. The ideal candidate thrives in a busy dining room, knows the menu, works confidently and quickly during rushes, and adapts their service style to individual guests. The position also involves using the POS system, answering questions about menu items and allergies, and recommending specialty cocktails.

Requirements

• Prior serving experience in a restaurant, cafe, or hotel food-and-beverage outlet is preferred.
• Working knowledge of POS systems.
• Food Handler certification and responsible alcohol service certification, such as TIPS or ServSafe, required or ability to obtain promptly.
• Strong menu knowledge and comfort discussing food and beverage pairings.
• Excellent communication and multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexible availability, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Passion for hospitality and creating a memorable dining experience.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests and explain the food, beverage, and bar menu with knowledge and enthusiasm.
• Take accurate food and beverage orders and enter them into the POS system.
• Deliver food and drinks promptly and check on quality and guest satisfaction during the meal.
• Recommend menu items, specials, and bar offerings in a natural, non-pushy way.
• Process payments accurately, including split checks and cash and card transactions.
• Know ingredients, preparation methods, and allergens to answer guest questions.
• Communicate with kitchen and bar staff to support timely, accurate order fulfillment.
• Set up, maintain, and break down dining areas, including table settings and cleanliness.
• Follow responsible alcohol service practices and verify guests’ ages for alcohol purchases.
• Address guest concerns and special requests professionally, involving a manager when needed.
• Maintain the Food Handler and responsible alcohol service certifications required for the role.
