About The Position

The Server provides guests with exceptional service to achieve customer satisfaction, quality service, compliance with corporate and franchise policies and procedures, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while meeting or exceeding financial goals. The role is at Kimpton Sylvan Hotel, whose restaurant serves contemporary interpretations of continental American classics.

Requirements

Maintain a professional appearance and manner.
Be willing to help coworkers and work as part of a team.
Have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation, service standards, guest relations, and etiquette.
Know appropriate table settings, service ware, and menu items.
Be able to remember, describe, and promote menu items.
Be able to transport trays weighing up to 30 pounds through a crowded room continuously throughout a shift, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Be able to operate beverage and toast equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, customers, and patrons.
Be able to operate a keyboard and learn Point of Sale procedures.
Have effective verbal and written communication skills.
Be able to adapt communication style to different audiences, including supervisors, coworkers, and the public.

Responsibilities

Check the assigned station before, during, and after the shift to ensure it is properly set up and clean.
Greet guests courteously and explain specials and restaurant promotions.
Record guest orders and repeat them to confirm accuracy.
Enter orders into the Point of Sale system for the kitchen.
Retrieve completed orders from the kitchen, verify accuracy, and deliver them with appropriate condiments.
Follow state, federal, and corporate requirements for serving alcoholic beverages.
Replenish beverages and check guests’ overall satisfaction.
Promote and serve desserts and specialty coffees upon request.
Use Point of Sale procedures to pre-check orders and close checks.
Present checks to guests promptly.
Follow attendance rules and maintain regular availability for work.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
