About The Position

The Server provides food and beverage service to guests. The role welcomes guests, answers questions about menu items, takes and serves orders, enters orders and discounts into the point-of-sale system, and follows established procedures for checks, payment processing, change, and receipts. The Server promotes positive guest relations by responding promptly to requests, sharing current information about promotions, contests, and giveaways, and treating guests in a friendly and courteous manner.

The position follows responsible alcohol service policies, including checking identification for guests who appear to be under 30, monitoring consumption, preventing service to intoxicated guests, stopping alcohol service at the designated time, and clearing alcoholic containers according to venue procedures. The Server maintains safe and sanitary dining areas and keeps restaurant stations stocked and clean by handling supplies, replenishing condiments, polishing silverware, folding napkins, and cleaning shelves, condiment holders, tables, and counters.

Requirements

• County of San Diego Food Handler Card.
• California ABC Responsible Beverage Service Certification.
• Must be 21 years of age.
• One year of food server experience.
• Ability to work effectively with team members and guests.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to maintain professionalism and composure.
• Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations.
• Ability to understand verbal directives and written instructions.
• Ability to accept constructive criticism.
• Ability to stand and walk for up to 8 hours at a time.
• Ability to carry a large serving tray and tray jacks.
• Ability to bend, stoop, push, and pull.
• Ability to work in a smoking environment.
• Ability to appear for work on time.
• Ability to routinely lift and carry 35 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Welcome guests entering the restaurant area and answer questions about menu items.
• Promptly take and serve food and beverage orders, enter orders and discounts into the point-of-sale system, and follow procedures for checks, payment processing, change, and receipts.
• Respond to guest requests in a timely manner and provide current information about promotions, contests, and giveaways.
• Treat guests in a friendly and courteous manner.
• Follow responsible alcohol beverage service policies, including checking identification when required, monitoring consumption, preventing service to intoxicated guests, stopping service at the designated time, and clearing alcoholic containers as specified.
• Maintain safe and sanitary dining areas by cleaning surfaces, picking up used plates, cups, condiments, and utensils, and disposing of trash.
• Submit supply requisitions and place delivered water, food, and supplies in designated areas.
• Replenish condiments, polish silverware, fold napkins, and clean shelves, condiment holders, tables, and counters according to established procedures.
