About The Position

The Server provides friendly, service-oriented customer care in a restaurant setting. The role involves describing menu items and daily specials, helping diners choose food and beverages, taking orders, communicating them accurately to the kitchen, delivering food promptly, and ensuring customers have what they need throughout their meal. The Server also calculates bills, presents checks, and processes payments. This position works in a fast-paced, sometimes chaotic dining room that can be loud. The employee may encounter hazards such as cuts, slips, trips, falls, and burns, and frequent hand washing is required. The role involves regular long hours and frequent weekend work.

Requirements

Must be of legal age under state regulations to serve alcohol.
Prior server experience.
Ability to follow all sanitation procedures.
Ability to work in a team atmosphere.
High school diploma or food safety training.

Responsibilities

Maintain a helpful and service-oriented customer service approach.
Present menus and help customers select food and beverage choices.
Clearly communicate menu items and daily specials, make recommendations, and answer questions.
Listen carefully to customer orders and accurately communicate them to chefs for preparation.
Remember and clearly convey ingredients in menu items and food and drink specials.
Deliver food to customers on time.
Work cooperatively with the hostess, bartenders, cooks, and runners to create a pleasant dining experience.
Set up tables before, during, and after the shift to prepare for the next diners.
Handle complaints or problems with a positive attitude.
Use professional language with customers.
Accurately calculate bills, present checks, and process payments promptly.
