About The Position

The Culinary Assistant provides dining room and to-go meal service to residents in assisted living and memory care at Northern Lakes Senior Living, a 68-unit care community in Baxter, Minnesota. The role helps maintain an inviting dining area and provides restaurant-style service while attending to residents’ meal choices, dietary needs, and requests. The schedule is casual/on-call, filling in for shifts arranged in advance and for last-minute staffing needs, with day and early evening shifts.

Requirements

• Less than 1 year of experience.

Responsibilities

• Serve meals and help ensure the dining area is clean and inviting.
• Follow meal-serving schedules and procedures.
• Offer residents meal choices and meet their specific dietary needs.
• Use proper safety and sanitation techniques.
• Follow dining room cleaning schedules and procedures.
• Follow proper dining room setup procedures and workflow to stay on task.
• Learn and become proficient with the EMenu System and restaurant-style service.
• Wash, sanitize, and put away all dishes, including flatware and drinkware, before the end of the shift.
• Welcome residents and initiate conversation to promote positive resident relations and satisfaction.
• Accommodate resident requests, including food substitutions and seating changes.
• Listen to complaints and respond appropriately; refer issues to the Executive Director and Culinary Director as appropriate.
