About The Position

Provide friendly, courteous, and efficient food and beverage service to guests. The role includes taking and serving food and beverage orders, preparing alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, maintaining clean and properly stocked tables and service areas, and performing opening, closing, inventory, and general cleaning duties. The position is for the pre-opening team of the AC Hotel by Marriott and Element by Westin in Phoenix, Arizona. Staff may work varying schedules based on hotel business needs and must attend scheduled training sessions and meetings.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent education.
Must be at least 21 years old to serve alcohol.
Safe Server Alcohol and Food Handlers certifications required.
Ability to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language used in the workplace.
Good verbal and written communication skills; strong customer relations and leadership capability.
Detail-oriented, organized, and able to communicate effectively.
Basic computer and computational skills; knowledge of Windows OS, MS Office, PMS, and POS functions.
Ability to handle customer concerns patiently, tactfully, and diplomatically, and gather accurate information to resolve conflicts.
Able to work independently and demonstrate self-direction.
Knowledge of table and bar service, spirits, beer, wine, and flavor profiles.
Ability to maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance according to company standards.
Regular attendance and participation in scheduled training sessions and meetings.
Able to perform the essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Able to stand and maintain mobility for up to four hours, maneuver between simultaneous functions and in limited spaces, and reach other hotel departments promptly.
Able to lift up to 45 pounds and push or pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 pounds.
Able to work in extreme temperatures, including freezers at -10°F and kitchens at +110°F, potentially for an hour or more.
Ability to perform tasks involving grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening, hearing, vision, smelling, tasting, and substantial finger, wrist, and hand movements.

Nice To Haves

One to three years of food service experience preferred.
Micros POS experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Greet guests warmly and provide professional, courteous service.
Take food and beverage orders, describe menu items and preparation methods, and suggest menu products.
Prepare alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for guests and other servers.
Verify identification and ensure that minors and intoxicated persons are not served alcohol.
Clear, clean, and reset tables; stock and maintain tables and side stands.
Complete assigned opening and closing procedures and side work.
Restock bar inventory and supplies; conduct opening and closing spirits inventories and securely store liquor, beer, and wine.
Assist with recipe batching, ice molding, liquor infusions, and preparing garnishes.
Keep taps, coolers, blenders, coffee makers, glassware, service areas, and preparation areas clean and in working order; participate in outlet deep cleaning.
Operate the cash register/POS, accept cash and credit card payments, provide correct change, and follow cash-handling and customer-service procedures.
Assist with guest inquiries and follow company safety and security policies.
Report maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, and injuries.
Perform other duties reasonably assigned by managers or supervisors.
