About The Position

Storable is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to build and modernize web applications for its Marine and RV & Camping divisions. The platforms support marinas, boatyards, yacht clubs, boat clubs, harbors, RV parks, campgrounds, holiday parks, and other outdoor hospitality businesses. Products include Molo, Rentals, and Newbook, covering workflows such as reservations, bookings, rentals, guest management, point of sale, payments, billing, customer and booking records, digital waivers, service operations, maintenance, integrations, and reporting. This hands-on full-stack position combines backend development with Node.js, PHP and/or .NET, SQL, and REST APIs with frontend development using React and JavaScript/TypeScript. Engineers own their systems throughout the software lifecycle, from architecture and design through development, testing, deployment, production operations, security, and performance. The team has no dedicated QE, DevOps, SRE, or Architect roles, so engineers are responsible for quality, delivery pipelines, observability, incident response, and ongoing system health. The role calls for an AI-native engineer who uses agentic tools such as Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor in daily development, builds automation that reduces team toil, and critically reviews AI-generated work. The engineer will mentor colleagues, improve engineering practices, and help the Marine and RV & Camping teams deliver reliable software.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of practical software engineering experience, including significant experience building and maintaining production web applications.
  • Hands-on production backend experience with Node.js, PHP and/or .NET, SQL, and REST APIs, as well as frontend experience with React and JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Thorough production React experience, including component architecture, hooks, state management, API integration, and automated frontend testing.
  • Hands-on experience across the full software delivery lifecycle, including architecture and technical design, frontend and backend development, automated unit and integration testing, CI/CD, and production deployment.
  • Demonstrated ownership of production systems without relying on separate QE, DevOps, or SRE functions, including test automation, deployment pipelines, monitoring and alerting, on-call, and incident response.
  • Experience shipping at least one LLM-powered feature to real users in production, and ability to explain personal contribution, evaluation, failures, and improvements. Experience using AI coding tools alone does not satisfy this requirement.
  • Concrete, measurable evidence that daily use of agentic AI development tools improved personal or team speed, quality, or output.
  • Strong ability to evaluate, correct, and improve AI-generated code rather than accepting it uncritically.
  • Practical understanding of software architecture, debugging, testing, security, performance, scalability, and technical tradeoffs.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to turn ambiguous technical challenges into clear, executable steps.
  • Excellent communication skills, including explaining technical decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders through design documents, diagrams, tradeoff analysis, and asynchronous updates.
  • Collaborative mindset and demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and raise the technical bar through feedback, documentation, and technical discussion.
  • Currently authorized to work full-time in the United States and able to work a hybrid schedule in the Seattle, Washington office.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience modernizing legacy systems or incrementally refactoring older codebases.
  • Experience working on SaaS products serving industry-specific operational workflows.
  • Experience with point of sale, reservations, bookings, payments, customer management, channel management, or marketplace-style systems.
  • Experience building internal AI-enabled tools, agents, or multi-agent workflows for engineering teams.
  • Experience designing evaluation frameworks or guardrails for LLM-powered features.
  • Experience establishing on-call, incident response, or release practices on a team without dedicated operations support.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field; equivalent professional experience is also valued.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and ship features and products across frontend, backend, data, and integrations for Storable’s Marine and RV & Camping platforms.
  • Deliver changes end to end, from technical design and development through automated testing, CI/CD, production deployment, and post-release monitoring.
  • Own the architecture and technical design of systems in the assigned area, document decisions, and prepare design documents for significant changes.
  • Define and implement test strategies, including unit, integration, functional, end-to-end, and regression testing.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, deployment automation, and service logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting.
  • Participate in on-call, respond to incidents, and implement root-cause fixes and post-incident follow-through.
  • Use agentic AI workflows throughout design, implementation, testing, and operations; build internal tools, automation, and agents to reduce repetitive work.
  • Identify and reduce technical debt through incremental refactoring, modernization, and architectural improvements.
  • Troubleshoot internal bugs and customer-reported issues while balancing timely resolution with long-term code quality.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, support teams, and engineers to turn business and customer needs into technical solutions.
  • Mentor engineers on best practices, operational ownership, and effective AI-assisted development.
  • Evaluate AI-enabled workflows and tools, share effective practices with the team, and critically review AI-generated work for correctness, security, maintainability, performance, and product fit.
