About The Position

Storable is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer for its Marine and RV & Camping Divisions. The role develops and modernizes web applications used by marina, boatyard, yacht club, harbor, boat-club, RV park, campground, holiday park, and outdoor hospitality operators and their customers. The platforms support workflows including storage and site management, reservations and bookings, rentals, guest and customer records, point of sale, payments and billing, digital waivers and agreements, service, housekeeping and maintenance operations, channel integrations, and reporting. This is a hands-on full-stack position spanning backend and frontend development, with end-to-end ownership from architecture and testing through deployment, production operations, security, and performance. Engineers are responsible for designing, testing, shipping, and maintaining their systems without dedicated QE, DevOps, SRE, or Architect roles. The role also involves mentoring engineers and using agentic AI tools and workflows to improve individual and team productivity, while critically reviewing AI-generated work. The position requires production experience with backend technologies such as Node.js, PHP and/or .NET, SQL, and REST APIs, as well as thorough production experience with React and JavaScript/TypeScript. The engineer will own technical design, automated testing, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, monitoring, on-call participation, incident response, security, and performance for their systems. Applicants must be authorized to work full-time in the United States and able to work a hybrid schedule in Storable’s Seattle, Washington office.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of practical software engineering experience, including significant experience building and maintaining production web applications where reliability and customer impact matter.
  • Hands-on production backend development experience with Node.js, PHP and/or .NET, SQL, and REST APIs, together with frontend development experience using React and JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Thorough hands-on production React experience, including component architecture, hooks, state management, API integration, and automated frontend testing.
  • Hands-on experience across the full software delivery lifecycle, including architecture and technical design, frontend and backend development, automated unit and integration testing, CI/CD, and production deployment.
  • Demonstrated ownership of production systems without relying on separate QE, DevOps, or SRE functions, including test automation, deployment pipelines, monitoring and alerting, on-call, and incident response.
  • Experience shipping at least one LLM-powered feature to real users in production, and ability to explain personal contributions, evaluation methods, failures, and improvements; AI coding-tool use alone does not satisfy this requirement.
  • Concrete, measurable evidence that daily use of agentic AI development tools improved the speed, quality, or output of the candidate’s work and team’s work.
  • Ability to evaluate, correct, and improve AI-generated code rather than accepting it without review.
  • Practical understanding of software architecture, debugging, testing, security, performance, scalability, and technical tradeoffs.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to break ambiguous technical challenges into clear, executable steps.
  • Excellent communication skills, including explaining technical decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders through design documents, diagrams, tradeoff analysis, and async updates.
  • Collaborative mindset and demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and raise the technical bar through feedback, documentation, and technical discussion.
  • Currently authorized to work full-time in the United States and able to work a hybrid schedule in the Seattle, WA office.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience modernizing legacy systems or incrementally refactoring older codebases.
  • Experience with SaaS products serving industry-specific operational workflows.
  • Experience with point of sale, reservations, bookings, payments, customer management, channel management, or marketplace-style systems.
  • Experience building internal AI-enabled tools, agents, or multi-agent workflows for engineering teams.
  • Experience designing evaluation frameworks or guardrails for LLM-powered features.
  • Experience establishing on-call, incident response, or release practices on a team without dedicated operations support.
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field; equivalent professional experience is equally valued.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and ship features and products across the Marine and RV & Camping software platforms, including frontend, backend, data, and integrations.
  • Deliver changes end to end, from technical design and development through automated testing, CI/CD, production deployment, and post-release monitoring.
  • Own architecture and technical design for assigned systems, document decisions, and prepare design documents for significant product or architecture changes.
  • Define and implement testing strategies, including unit, integration, functional, and regression tests.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, deployment automation, environment configuration, feature flags, and safe rollout and rollback practices.
  • Maintain production health through observability, logging, metrics, tracing, alerting, dashboards, on-call participation, incident response, and root-cause follow-through.
  • Secure systems and data through secure coding, dependency and vulnerability management, access control, and careful handling of payment and customer data.
  • Improve performance and manage operating costs through profiling, query and frontend tuning, capacity awareness, and cost-conscious technical decisions.
  • Use agentic AI workflows for design, implementation, testing, and operations, and build internal tools, automation, and agents that reduce repetitive work.
  • Evaluate and improve AI-generated work for correctness, security, maintainability, performance, and product fit; design and run evaluations for LLM-powered product features.
  • Identify and reduce technical debt through refactoring, modernization, and architectural improvements.
  • Troubleshoot internal bugs and customer-reported issues, balancing timely resolution with long-term code quality.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, support teams, and engineers in stand-ups, backlog refinement, design discussions, and retrospectives.
  • Mentor engineers on engineering practices, operational ownership, and effective AI-assisted development; share effective AI patterns and continuously evaluate tools and workflows.
