About the position
The Sr PV Designer at PosiGen is responsible for ensuring that solar proposals and designs align with company policies, customer preferences, and local, state, and national codes. They use site survey details and aerial imagery to create 3D models of homes and their surroundings, comparing them with the designs of Channel Partners to ensure alignment. This role is part of the Permit Design team and requires advanced knowledge of design requirements in multiple markets and the use of various software tools. The Sr PV Designer also establishes audit criteria and standards for Partners and contributes to the development of industry best practices.
Responsibilities
- Follow design standards to ensure Partner solar designs enable installations that lead to high customer satisfaction.
- Use solar modeling software to model site conditions including roof plane dimensions, roof pitch, roof obstructions, trees, and other objects that affect the layout of solar panels on a roof and system production.
- Learn a variety of modeling softwares and techniques to evaluate Designs against determined PosiGen standards.
- Adhere to PV system design criteria including electrical, equipment, and installation parameters while complying with local and national code requirements in project jurisdictions.
- Create, review, and modify PV system drawing sets in AutoCAD and custom software tools.
- Meet deadlines to complete design evaluations for photovoltaic projects within a fast-paced production based environment with fluctuations in work priorities depending on the needs of the business.
- Work with Channel Partner operations teams to promote efficient installs and to prevent customer cancellations and change orders.
- Maintain account files in Salesforce.
- Complete 120% of PV Designer expected volume while maintaining quality.
- Assist in developing and documenting industry best practices, standards, and guidelines.
- Demonstrate ethics and professionalism at all times.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Experience with designing and/or constructing solar electric systems
- Experience with solar production modeling software (Aurora, Solo, OpenSolar, etc.)
- Experience with AutoCad software or equivalent
- NABCEP (associate) certification, or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire
- Working knowledge of residential electrical and roofing standards
- Knowledge of National Electrical Code and local building codes is a plus
- Experience with Salesforce CRM software preferred
