About the position
The Director of Special Projects is a collaborative and results-driven role responsible for coordinating and driving strategic initiatives across the business. Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, this position plays a key role in translating company priorities into specific strategy and operational workstreams, and ensuring their successful implementation. The ideal candidate will have prior renewable energy finance experience and will work closely with senior leadership to manage top-level priorities, develop strategic roadmaps, and align with overall business objectives. Strong analytical abilities, exceptional communication skills, and a focus on stakeholder alignment are essential for success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with COO and senior leadership to manage the company's top-level priorities and define the company's special project roadmap
- Engage in analytical projects to quantify business inefficiencies and craft cross-functional roadmaps for change
- Provide process leadership across strategic projects, including scoping, planning, resourcing, and implementation
- Support and coach department heads and leaders to codify strategy documents and develop process artifacts
- Organize project information and artifacts to communicate the priority, strategy, and statuses of key projects to stakeholders
- Develop, communicate, motivate, and manage toward a strategic vision
- Demonstrate exceptional communication and presentation skills
- Possess highly developed analytical abilities and strong operational focus
- Be highly organized and detail-oriented
- Work effectively in a team and know when to lead, listen, and influence
- Exhibit high ethical standards and unquestioned integrity
- Lead and manage complex cross-functional projects
- Have a strong understanding of renewable energy markets, business models, and financing strategies
- Possess previous experience or working knowledge of residential solar development and financing strategies
- Have expert-level Excel skills with the ability to create operational models
Requirements
- Prior renewable energy finance experience is a must
- Bachelor's degree required in a field that includes quantitative coursework, MBA preferred
- 8+ years of progressively responsible operational and/or financial experience
- Previous experience or working knowledge of residential solar development and financing strategies
- Strong understanding of renewable energy markets, business models, and financing strategies, as well as related evolving policy and regulatory environments
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills
- Demonstrated ability and focus to develop, communicate, motivate, and manage toward a strategic vision
- Highly developed analytical abilities, excellent judgment, and strong operational focus
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Team focused, knows when to lead when to listen, and when to influence
- Highly ethical with unquestioned integrity and high personal standards of behavior
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage complex cross-functional projects
- Expert-level Excel skills with demonstrated ability to create operational models and perform financial analysis

- Base Salary: $150,000-$175,000 US
