Senior Process Integration Engineer

Samsung•Austin, TX
•Onsite

About The Position

Samsung Austin Semiconductor’s Foundry Product Integration Engineering team owns product integration from initial silicon fab-in through final package, connecting design with fab process flows to support customer product satisfaction. The team supports new product introductions by verifying new IP and evaluating margins for customer sample and corner lots for timely product qualification. It implements best-known methods to improve yield and device performance, resolves integration issues across product offerings, and manages process change points to minimize risk. The team also responds to customer quality feedback and claims and supports yield-learning models using wafer-sort or final-test data to identify root causes and countermeasures. In this role, you will collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, and customer teams to analyze silicon, process, and test data; identify yield and defect issues; and drive corrective actions. You will monitor mass-production performance, support new product and technology qualification, improve process controls, and communicate findings in executive and customer presentations. The position also supports fab initiatives involving cost reduction, throughput, quality, and work and process efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in physics, electrical engineering, or a STEM-related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in the semiconductor industry.
  • Core technical and data-analysis skills to identify CIP yield-improvement activities and plans and determine root causes of abnormal events.
  • Extensive experience in data mining and statistical analysis using a variety of data sources.
  • Proficiency in mapping wafer-sort bin and parametric data to fab electrical test (E-test/WAT) results and in-line SPC/FDC data to identify factors contributing to variation.
  • Skill using layout viewers and knowledge of DRC review to support advanced diagnostics and failure-mode identification.
  • Understanding of failure-analysis and metrology techniques for developing data-collection plans, and ability to interpret eFA and pFA results.
  • In-depth understanding and hands-on experience setting up process flows and process targets.
  • Foundational understanding of semiconductor fabrication processes and their impact on electrical performance and device characteristics.
  • Ability to collaborate across Design, Foundry, Test, Customer, and Quality engineering teams to achieve yield targets and qualification milestones.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to develop, modify, or maintain automation scripts and data-analysis tools using Python, C, or Java.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Process, DFM, Test, Device, Module QnR, Manufacturing, and Customer teams to ensure product manufacturability.
  • Analyze EDS/ET and process-parameter data, translating wafer-sort results into actions that distinguish EDS-related anomalies from process-related yield degradations.
  • Analyze silicon using data from multiple sources and characterize process variations and critical controls to improve performance and yield.
  • Identify trends, develop mitigation strategies, and resolve yield and defect challenges using high-volume production data.
  • Monitor mass-production performance and work with fab engineering to investigate systematic issues, address processing abnormalities, and drive yield toward entitlement targets.
  • Develop defenses that improve detection and process controls, reduce risk, and maximize production efficiency.
  • Create and present professional presentations for executive and customer meetings.
  • Support fab initiatives related to cost reduction, throughput, quality, and work and process efficiency.
  • Participate in new product introduction and advanced technology development, bring-up, and qualification.
  • Work with customers during kickoffs, validate customer sample lots, evaluate corner-wafer margins, and support qualification with fab engineering representatives.
