Senior Process Integration Engineer

Coherent•Sherman, TX

About The Position

The Senior Process Integration Engineer drives new product and process development to ensure timely qualification, launch, and delivery of qualified products. The role oversees day-to-day development activities and matrix lots, manages part numbers and bills of materials, and supports the NPI team in establishing mask sets, process flows, and workflows for front-end wafer fabrication and back-end die assembly and characterization. The engineer leads failure analysis for issues arising during fabrication and product characterization, coordinates production ramp-up readiness with cross-functional teams, and collaborates with product engineering to improve yield and address characterization issues across process areas. The role also designs and executes experiments related to design, process, and testing to identify and implement corrective actions. Work includes ensuring appropriate setup and documentation for a smooth transition to manufacturing. The position requires the ability to work in a cleanroom and with hazardous materials.

Requirements

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Material Science, Physics, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in III-V semiconductor laser device design, process development, and characterization.
  • Hands-on experience with the design, process, and characterization of optoelectronic devices such as VCSELs, DFB lasers, or photonic integrated chips.
  • Strong statistical data analysis skills, including tools such as JMP or Minitab.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor wafer fab operations, including Manufacturing Execution Systems, process and quality control, and change management.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to host effective meetings, facilitate actions, and resolve conflicts.
  • Ability to drive actions and solutions through cross-functional teams.
  • Professional and respectful collaboration with coworkers, vendors, contractors, and other external partners.
  • Ability to work in a cleanroom environment and with hazardous materials.
