About The Position

Boomi is seeking a Senior Solutions Engineer with deep expertise in iPaaS, hybrid integration, and public sector IT modernization to lead strategic State, Local, and Higher Education (SLED) technical engagements across North America. In this strategic role, the engineer serves as a principal technical advisor to government and higher education leadership, defining connectivity strategies for complex modernization initiatives. The work helps institutions address data silos, protect citizen and student data sovereignty, and coordinate hybrid environments that span legacy on-premises databases, multi-cloud platforms, and secure government clouds.

The role leads architectural design and technical pursuits involving application integration, EDI, secure Managed File Transfer, public sector security and compliance, formal procurement, and Proof of Value evaluations. It also connects public systems of record with modern cloud platforms and coordinates internal specialists, field engineers, and partner solution architects across Boomi platform areas including iPaaS, API Management, DataHub, and AI.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of customer-facing presales solutions engineering or technical consulting experience.
• Proven success supporting complex State, Local, or Higher Education pursuits.
• Deep familiarity with public sector procurement cycles, fiscal-year budget cycles, and multi-tier committee evaluations.
• Hands-on mastery of enterprise integration patterns, REST/SOAP/GraphQL web services, asynchronous message queuing, and secure data movement.
• Exceptional communication skills across technical and executive audiences, including network security teams, database administrators, agency leadership, commissioners, and university boards.
• Proven experience with zero-inbound firewall configurations, reverse proxy designs, DMZ edge gateways, and hybrid runtime placement across government data centers and cloud VPCs.

Nice To Haves

• Hands-on experience integrating public sector ecosystems, including Higher Education SIS/LMS platforms or State/Local ERP systems.
• Active or prior public sector security credentials, clearance exposure, or industry certifications such as StateRAMP/FedRAMP familiarity, AWS or Azure Certified Cloud Architect, CISSP, or TOGAF.
• Experience extending iPaaS pursuits into API Gateway governance, Master Data Management using Boomi DataHub, and secure retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) AI workflows.

Responsibilities

• Lead architectural design of end-to-end integration strategies across state and local agencies and university systems, including Application Integration, EDI, and secure Managed File Transfer.
• Architect solutions that address public sector compliance and security requirements, data sovereignty, and hybrid runtime placement across on-premises, hybrid, and government cloud environments.
• Direct technical evaluation strategies for RFPs, RFIs, RFQs, and cooperative purchasing contract evaluations; author architectural narratives and security compliance responses.
• Partner with Enterprise SLED Account Executives to conduct consultative discovery, navigate public sector buying committees, and connect technical capabilities to measurable mission outcomes.
• Lead scoped Proof of Value evaluations in prospect environments, validating the security and operability of Boomi Atoms and clustered Molecules across hybrid data center and government cloud footprints.
• Design connectivity between public systems of record and modern cloud platforms, including systems such as Tyler Technologies, Infor Public Sector, SAP, CGI Advantage, Ellucian Banner/Colleague, Workday, Salesforce Government/Education Cloud, Snowflake, AWS GovCloud, and Microsoft Azure Government.
• Coordinate internal domain specialists, field engineers, and partner solution architects to lead multi-pillar technical pursuits across iPaaS, API Management, DataHub, and AI.
