Sr Outbound Manager

About The Position

The Senior Outbound Manager leads all outbound operations at Cavender’s Wilmer cross-dock distribution facility, ensuring accurate, timely, and efficient fulfillment of store and customer orders. The role oversees picking, packing, shipping, and distribution while maintaining standards for productivity, accuracy, and service. It establishes and maintains outbound workflows, optimizes routing strategies, and coordinates fulfillment, transportation, and store delivery operations. The manager develops outbound procedures and workflows, plans orders and workloads, coaches supervisors and associates, sets performance targets, and uses reporting and continuous improvement to strengthen operational results. The role also works closely with Transportation, Operations, inbound and inventory teams, Customer Service, and store operations to support timely deliveries and resolve shipment issues.

Requirements

At least 5 years of experience in warehouse, distribution, or fulfillment operations, focused on outbound or shipping functions.
At least 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience.
Strong knowledge of picking, packing, shipping, and order fulfillment processes.
Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS), order management systems (OMS), transportation management systems (TMS), and order flow management.
Proven ability to lead teams, manage performance, and drive operational results.
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

Experience in retail or e-commerce distribution environments.
Familiarity with store distribution models, routing, and delivery logistics.
Experience optimizing warehouse layouts or fulfillment workflows.
Knowledge of transportation coordination or delivery models, such as multi-stop routing and scheduled deliveries.
Strong analytical skills and ability to track and improve operational KPIs.
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field.

Responsibilities

Lead end-to-end outbound operations, including picking, packing, shipping, and distribution.
Develop, refine, and maintain standard operating procedures and workflows for outbound operations.
Coach and develop supervisors and associates and manage team performance.
Plan waves, prioritize orders, and distribute workloads to meet service levels.
Maintain order accuracy and quality standards.
Design and optimize picking, packing, and shipping processes to reduce errors and improve throughput.
Coordinate with Transportation and Operations on store routing, delivery schedules, and outbound logistics.
Set and monitor targets for pick rates, order accuracy, on-time shipping, and productivity.
Ensure compliance with safety standards and operational procedures.
Identify and implement improvements to operational speed, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness.
Coordinate with inbound and inventory teams to support product availability and timely order fulfillment.
Communicate with Customer Service and store operations and resolve order and shipment issues.
Provide leadership reporting with analysis, context, and recommended next steps.
