About The Position

VetPowered LLC is a precision defense manufacturer in San Diego, AS9100 Rev D certified, ITAR registered, an SBA 8(a) participant, and a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business. The company machines parts for the Department of the Navy, the Air Force, and major defense primes, and also designs and sells its own branded products. VetPowered operates alongside Workshops for Warriors, an accredited school that trains, certifies, and places veterans and transitioning service members in advanced manufacturing. This role exists to tell VetPowered's story and turn that narrative into revenue, partnerships, and purchase orders. The Senior Marketing Manager will be the first dedicated marketing hire, responsible for developing and executing marketing strategies for both the direct-to-consumer product business and the defense manufacturing business.

Requirements

  • Seven or more years of progressive marketing experience.
  • Three or more years owning a marketing plan and budget with revenue accountability.
  • Hands-on short-form video production and editing, with a portfolio of published work.
  • Experience building marketing attribution from scratch in Salesforce or a comparable CRM, including lead source discipline, campaign structure, and dashboards.
  • Experience owning a direct-to-consumer e-commerce site and its commercial results (conversion rate, AOV, promotional calendar).
  • Experience managing creators, influencers, or brand ambassadors under written agreements.
  • Ability to work onsite in San Diego five days per week, including shop-floor and field shoots.
  • U.S. person status under ITAR.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and own the twelve-month marketing plan and budget for VetPowered, including a supporting awareness plan for Workshops for Warriors.
  • Define and build positioning and messaging frameworks for both brands and their relationship.
  • Establish content standards and approval paths for public presence.
  • Own go-to-market strategy for branded products, including audience definition, positioning, launch narrative, pricing tests, and success criteria.
  • Translate product capabilities into customer-first value propositions for individual end-users and institutional accounts.
  • Build the launch calendar and sequence paid investment against content readiness.
  • Partner with the CEO and business development on collateral for defense procurement conversations.
  • Own vetpowered.com and the direct-to-consumer store, including site merchandising, product detail pages, cart, and checkout, with accountability for conversion rate and average order value.
  • Run a testing roadmap across landing pages, product pages, and checkout.
  • Own the promotional calendar and its execution.
  • Build the e-commerce lifecycle program, including welcome, abandoned cart, post-purchase, and reactivation flows, as well as nurture sequences for inbound RFQs.
  • Manage paid social, paid search, and SEO against ROAS and cost per acquired customer.
  • Build the marketing attribution model in Salesforce, including lead source discipline, campaign structure, referral codes, UTM standards, and dashboards.
  • Own the source field on the RFQ form and reporting from first touch through purchase order.
  • Deliver a monthly dashboard and quarterly review in revenue terms.
  • Produce short-form and long-form video, photography, and writing from the shop floor, school, and field.
  • Ghost-write and schedule the CEO’s LinkedIn presence.
  • Ensure all content adheres to on-camera safety standards and export-control screening.
  • Recruit, brief, and manage a contracted brand ambassador and content creator.
  • Coordinate with the outside PR firm on placements, award announcements, and response.
