About the position
As the Product Marketing Leader at dbt Labs, you will play a crucial role in driving the growth of dbt Cloud. Working closely with various teams, you will be responsible for creating the messaging platform, developing compelling product narratives, and customizing content for different audiences. Your goal will be to differentiate dbt Cloud from its alternatives and communicate its value through thought leadership blogs, demo videos, and solution guides. With your strong experience in product marketing and open source software, you will contribute to the company's next level of growth.
Responsibilities
- Create the messaging platform for dbt Cloud
- Align with sales effectiveness to drive messaging awareness and seller proficiency for differentiating dbt Cloud relative to alternatives
- Author and coordinate participation in messaging that helps our audience answer, “why dbt Cloud? Why now?”
- Elevate the way we communicate about dbt Cloud through various mediums like thought leadership blogs, demo videos, one-pagers, and solution guides
- Test audience strategy through customer interviews, and iterative messaging
- Work closely with the Campaign, Pipeline, and Field marketers to customize product-related content for various audiences, industries, and regions
- Measure messaging influence on self-service activation, sales-assisted pipeline volume, and enterprise deal velocity
Requirements
- 10-15 years experience in Product Marketing, ideally at an open source software organization
- Strong writing and communication skills, with a knack for storytelling
- Strong bias for action, experimentation, measurement, and iteration
- A passion for digging into market and audience trends to surface the most impactful messaging
- A strong understanding of, and empathy for the challenges faced by modern data teams
- Experience creating multi-channel content (blogs, videos, guides) that supports sales-assisted and sales-led deal cycles
- Experience working with solutions architects and product managers to produce technical guides and tutorials
- Experience in a managerial and leadership role, including managing fully-remote teams
- Proficiency in dbt, or other tools in the modern data stack (preferred)
- Experience developing narratives for developer and executive personas (preferred)
- Taken open source software solutions to market (preferred)
- Led competitive intelligence teams (preferred)
- An understanding of traditional enterprise ETL tooling like Informatica, Boomi, or Talend (preferred)
- Experience working with internal brand designers or managing external contractors to bring content to life (preferred)
