About the position
We are seeking an experienced Sr. Technical Instructor to join our training team at dbt Labs. In this role, you will deliver live instruction and onboard dbt Cloud customers, creating an engaging learning environment. You will teach and demo new concepts and skills, facilitate co-development sessions, and provide critical feedback to improve curriculum changes. Additionally, you will become a product expert with dbt and contribute to other education projects. Responsibilities
- Deliver live instruction to train and onboard dbt Cloud customers in small and large groups, as well as webinar audiences
- Create an engaging learning environment, both remotely and in person
- Get learners excited about using dbt Cloud and its impact on their organization
- Teach and demonstrate new concepts and skills to learners
- Facilitate live co-development sessions for learners to apply what they have learned
- Adjust instruction based on learner outcomes
- Provide feedback to improve curriculum changes
- Become a product expert in dbt and the modern data stack
- Assist with other education projects, such as curriculum development and workflow improvement
Requirements
- 4+ years experience teaching with some data analytics experience OR 4+ years of data analytics experience with some teaching
- Experience writing SQL in an analytics context
- Passion for teaching and creating engaging learning environments
- Ability to adjust instruction on the fly and focus on learner outcomes
- Strong communication skills with internal and external stakeholders
- Experience working in a cross-collaborative and fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of customer education/training and its impact on outcomes
- Familiarity with dbt and/or experience teaching dbt
- Experience with analytics code (Python, R, etc.) in addition to SQL and working with databases
- Experience in designing curricula with a focus on backwards design
