Director, Data

We are seeking a Director of Data to join our team at dbt Labs. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the internal data team and driving key data initiatives for our product, dbt. As the Director of Data, you will collaborate with company leadership to provide strategic leadership and direction to our data analysts and analytics engineering teams. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in driving data enablement and insights throughout the organization, as well as representing dbt Labs as a thought leader in the industry.

Provide strategic leadership, vision, and direction to the data analysts and analytics engineering teams

Drive and execute the "dbt Labs on dbt" initiative

Lead and develop the data platform function that connects dbt to the rest of the modern data stack

Represent dbt Labs as a thought leader at industry engagements and with prospective customers

Be the steward for dbt Labs' internal data usage and data governance

Collaborate with the executive team on a roadmap for overall analytics and a center of data excellence

Own and report on KPIs related to platform stability, internal engagement with data, and stakeholder satisfaction

• Seasoned people manager with experience in different types of data roles (analytics, data engineering, analytics engineering)
• Deep familiarity with dbt and the modern data stack
• Demonstrated success in landing impact through data initiatives
• Comfortable in a remote-first, writing-heavy environment
• Previous experience leading product analytics for developer tools or data products
• Strong leadership, vision, and strategic direction skills
• Ability to collaborate with executive team and drive data enablement/insights at the organization
• Knowledge of systems and processes data teams should use to enable an organization
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Familiarity with key company metrics and org-wide reporting
• Ability to represent the company as a thought leader at industry engagements and with prospective customers
• Experience with data usage and data governance in preparation for organizational scale
• Ability to own and report on KPIs representing platform stability, uptime, and stakeholder satisfaction

• Salary: $214,000 - $304,000 / year
