About the position
As a Solutions Architect on the Commercial team at dbt Labs, your role will involve helping prospects understand the value of dbt Cloud for their organization. You will engage in technical discussions with potential customers, identify their data challenges, and demonstrate how dbt Cloud can address their needs through live demos and workshops. Additionally, you will be responsible for post-sales relationship building, ensuring customer success, and identifying opportunities for expansion. Your role will also involve collaborating with Account Executives, improving team processes, and providing input on product discussions. Overall, this role requires a solid technical background, excellent presentation skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Spend the majority of your time working on pre-sales opportunities to understand use cases and identify the value of dbt Cloud for organizations
- Consult with potential customers to understand their data challenges and identify opportunities for dbt Cloud to alleviate their pain and help them achieve their goals
- Own the technical aspects of a sales opportunity, providing technical expertise and delivering tailored demos of dbt Cloud
- Collaborate closely with Account Executives, building trust-based relationships and providing strategic input on deal processes
- Act as the ongoing technical point of contact for post-sales accounts, ensuring their success in utilizing dbt Cloud
- Maintain ongoing relationships with technical contacts in accounts
- Identify opportunities for expansion in larger accounts and flag risks in accounts that may churn or contract
- Work with the team to improve collaboration and processes, act as the voice of the customer in product discussions, and participate in cross-functional activities
- Participate in the knowledge loop to improve processes and assets and enable others on the team
- Create and deliver external facing content through live events, blog posts, recorded tutorials, or other content
Requirements
- 3+ years of sales engineering, solutions architecture, or as a data practitioner
- Solid technical background, with a firm understanding of modern data warehousing architectures, the modern data stack, and SQL proficiency
- Experience working asynchronously as part of a fully-remote, distributed team
- High degree of comfort presenting to various stakeholders or audience, ideally with experience in an externally facing role
- Ability to operate in an ambiguous and fast-paced environment and think on your feet when engaged in customer conversations
- Desire to be part of a team, both as an active member of the SA team and in day-to-day work with Account Executives as part of a deal team
- Openness to travel for external and internal events
- Prior dbt experience, bonus points for dbt certification
- Basic python competency and advanced SQL knowledge
- Proven experience in a pre-sales tech role
- Experience with traditional ETL tooling
