Director, Data

We are seeking a Director of Data to join our team at dbt Labs. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the internal data team and driving data initiatives for our product, dbt. You will work closely with company leadership to provide strategic leadership and direction to our data analysts and analytics engineering teams. Additionally, you will be involved in driving data enablement and insights across various departments within the organization. As the Director of Data, you will play a key role in shaping our data platform and ensuring data governance as we continue to scale.

• Manage the internal data team at dbt Labs
• Drive cross-cutting, foundational, and product-focused data initiatives
• Manage the internal dbt data project and the stack of data tools connected to dbt
• Responsible for key company metrics and org-wide reporting
• Provide product insights and rapid feedback to engineering and product teams
• Partner with company leadership to drive data enablement and insights
• Collaborate with GTM, finance, product, engineering, and design leadership
• Provide strategic leadership, vision, and direction to data analysts and analytics engineering teams
• Drive and execute the "dbt Labs on dbt" initiative
• Lead and develop the data platform function
• Represent dbt Labs as a thought leader at industry engagements
• Steward internal data usage and data governance
• Collaborate on a roadmap for overall analytics and data excellence
• Own and report on KPIs for platform stability, engagement with data, and stakeholder satisfaction
• Manage and reason about different types of data roles
• Familiarity with dbt and the modern data stack
• Land impact through data initiatives
• Comfortable in a remote-first, writing-heavy environment
• Previous experience leading product analytics for developer tools or data products
• Salary: $214,000 - $304,000 / year

• Seasoned people manager with experience in different types of data roles (analytics, data engineering, analytics engineering)
• Deep familiarity with dbt and the modern data stack
• Demonstrated success in landing impact through data initiatives
• Comfortable in a remote-first, writing-heavy environment
• Previous experience leading product analytics for developer tools or data products
• Strong leadership, vision, and direction for data analysts and analytics engineering teams
• Ability to drive and execute internal data initiatives
• Knowledge of systems and processes for enabling data teams in an organization
• Comfortable working in a fully distributed setting
• Familiarity with industry engagements and thought leadership
• Experience with data usage and data governance at scale
• Ability to collaborate with executive team on analytics roadmap
• Ownership of platform stability, uptime, and stakeholder satisfaction metrics

• Salary: $214,000 - $304,000 / year
