About the position
The job overview for this role is that the Principal Engineer will play a strategic and important role in helping to build and grow hands-on learning experiences in areas such as AI and data science. They will be responsible for developing curriculum and product architecture, designing for target learners, identifying market needs, and collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance student learning outcomes. The Principal Engineer will also provide expert guidance on content and technology best practices in the fields of AI, ML, data science, and emerging technologies.
Responsibilities
- AI/ML, Data Analytics and Emerging Technology Curricula Design and Creation
- Act as principal technical lead of multiple teams of curriculum engineers and subject-matter experts
- Establish and promote best practices in content development and coding techniques
- Provide expert guidance on content and technology best practices
- Collaborate with Product Managers, learners, and industry experts to enhance student learning outcomes
- Collaborate with curriculum directors and product managers on high-level design choices
- Define workflows, processes, and standards for developing high-quality curricula
- Curricula Growth and Planning
- Partner with cross-functional leads to inform decision-making on new program development
- Provide strategic guidance on new content development based on emerging trends and industry demands
- Research and stay up-to-date on technology trends and new tools
- Support the future growth of multiple product verticals
- Internal Growth and Development
- Promote a culture of continuous growth and improvement through team training and professional development
- Support curriculum engineers' professional development plans and knowledge sharing
- Support curriculum directors with decision-making on team trainings and learnings
Requirements
- Deep knowledge of technical topics across multiple domains, including Software Engineering, Data Analytics, Data Science, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence
- Experience in developing curriculum and product architecture
- Ability to design for target learners and identify market needs for new learning products
- Familiarity with AI/ML, Data Analytics, and Emerging Technology Curricula Design and Creation
- Expertise in content and technology best practices in the fields of AI, ML, Data Science, and emerging technologies
- Collaboration skills with Product Managers, learners, and industry experts for enhancing student learning outcomes
- Ability to define workflows, processes, and standards for developing high-quality curricula
- Knowledge of technology trends and new tools to meet market and student demands
- Experience in promoting a culture of continuous growth and improvement through internal team training and professional development
- Strong communication skills to clearly communicate technical concepts and aspects of curriculum to internal and external stakeholders
- Self-starter with the ability to quickly understand processes and approaches without formal training
- Lifelong learner with an interest in the newest technology and trends across multiple disciplines
- Knowledge of Data Engineering, Cloud Engineering, Dev Ops, User experience or user interaction design, and Accounting, Financial, or Fintech experience is a plus
- Availability to work remotely, with a preference for candidates in the Washington-Baltimore metropolitan area who can come into the Headquarters in Lanham, MD two days a week.

- Anticipated base salary range of $115,000-$130,000 with potential bonus eligibility
