About The Position

Airbnb is seeking a Senior Manager to lead BizTech Enablement and Innovation (BEI), the solutions partner for the company’s non-technical functions. BEI works with Finance, Legal, People, Marketing, Global Operations, Policy and Communications, Design, and other teams to understand their work, deliver solutions, support technology adoption, and relay business needs to BizTech product teams and vendors. This role reports to the Director, Tech Foundations. For the next 18 months, the team’s focus is AI. The Senior Manager will own the company’s approach to AI adoption and impact outside Engineering, set a vision for AI-enabled work, establish measurable outcomes, and partner with E-Team leaders on AI transformation. The role also leads how non-technical functions discover, adopt, and gain value from business technology—including consultations, fast-track solutions, service launches, and building or buying solutions when existing tools are insufficient. Near-term priorities include defining Airbnb’s two-year direction for AI-enabled work, developing the team and partnerships to deliver it, and making trade-offs across functional needs, platform constraints, and budget. Success is measured by business outcomes rather than tool rollouts: functions redesigning work around technology and AI, defining and reporting impact metrics, and demonstrating efficiency and quality gains, supported by a simpler landscape with fewer duplicate and unsupported tools. The role sets strategy, operating models, accountability frameworks, and standards for AI solutions; influences AI tooling roadmaps; oversees external partners; and leads a globally distributed, multidisciplinary organization. The position also pilots technologies with business teams, transitions proven solutions to product owners for ongoing support, and coaches functional leaders on connecting AI capabilities to business value. The role is US remote eligible, with occasional Airbnb office work or offsites as agreed with the manager. The employee must reside in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity. Travel may be required as needed, approximately 10–20%. The position may be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits. The listed base pay range is $204,000–$255,000 USD.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of industry experience in business technology, enterprise systems, digital transformation, or technical program leadership.
  • 5+ years leading managers and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated track record setting and delivering a multi-year strategy for a company-wide technology or transformation program with executive visibility.
  • Experience leading business technology consulting, solutions engineering, or IT business partnering for non-technical teams, including influencing product and vendor roadmaps.
  • Experience owning the quality, reliability, and support of technology solutions in production.
  • Experience building trusted relationships with and influencing C-level and E-Team executives, including aligning or challenging senior leaders on priorities.
  • Deep, hands-on understanding of generative AI tools and agentic workflows and how they change non-technical work.
  • Strong analytical judgment, including defining measurement frameworks, interpreting adoption and impact data, and ensuring executive-level data quality and credibility.
  • Proven ability to lead through ambiguity and rapid change, including shifting organizational structures, evolving technology, and competing priorities.
  • Experience designing operating models across multiple teams and organizations without direct authority.
  • Experience attracting, hiring, and developing senior talent and managers across regions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience leading enterprise AI adoption or change management at a large technology company.
  • Experience managing external consulting partners and globally distributed teams.
  • Ability to travel as needed, approximately 10–20%.

Responsibilities

  • Define and own the multi-year strategy for AI adoption and impact across Airbnb’s non-technical functions, aligned with company and Tech priorities.
  • Assess gaps, capabilities, and emerging AI trends; anticipate future functional needs and translate them into a roadmap and investment plan.
  • Simplify business technology tools by steering teams to supported solutions and addressing gaps that lead to unsupported tools.
  • Set organizational OKRs and success criteria, and hold teams and partners accountable for delivery.
  • Make and communicate trade-offs across functional demands, platform constraints, and budget.
  • Serve as the senior BizTech partner to leadership teams on AI transformation and provide regular readouts to executives and senior Tech leaders.
  • Establish and drive adoption of a framework for functions to define, measure, and report AI business impact.
  • Build a metric-driven accountability culture with clear baselines, targets, ownership, and a trusted source of adoption and impact data.
  • Tailor communications for technical partners and executives, and seek feedback, improve delivery, and raise risks early.
  • Listen actively and anticipate resistance to change.
  • Design and refine the operating model connecting technical functions and networks into a coordinated enablement system.
  • Shape AI enablement so functions can build and share AI solutions at scale.
  • Partner with platform and product teams to influence the AI tooling roadmap based on non-technical user needs.
  • Direct external partner and consulting engagements, including scope, governance, and return on investment.
  • Set quality, reliability, and security standards for AI solutions; own production operational issues and drive corrective fixes.
  • Prioritize technical debt and long-term upkeep of shipped solutions across the team’s roadmap.
  • Lead a globally distributed, multidisciplinary organization of managers, Business Solutions Engineers, Systems Architects, and Program Managers.
  • Create a team environment that supports constructive debate, risk-taking, learning from experiments, and belonging across regions.
  • Build an 18+-month talent plan and succession pipeline, including hiring at L10 and above.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop team members in clear communication, early conflict resolution, and inclusive team-building.
  • Pilot new technologies, including AI, with business teams and transition proven solutions to product owners for long-term support.
  • Coach leaders across functions to connect AI capabilities to business value.
  • Create mechanisms for turning individual functional learnings into reusable company-wide patterns.
  • Represent BizTech in company-wide AI forums and contribute to hiring committees, talent processes, and Airbnb’s internal AI community.
  • Model Airbnb’s core values and support the company mission through the introduction of AI to employees.
