About The Position

Freudigman & Billings’ Westport, Connecticut chapter is hiring a full-time Senior Instructor for its Admissions Test Prep team. The role is based at the Westport center and is not remote. The instructor will primarily help students prepare for the ACT and SAT; experience with the ISEE, SSAT, MCAT, GMAT, GRE, and/or LSAT is also welcome. The organization’s instructional approach focuses on information processing, self-monitoring, critical thinking, and problem-solving strategies rather than rote memorization or simply assigning practice questions. Instructors help students learn to gather, sequence, track, and classify information from text and visual sources, supporting their reasoning, problem-solving, inference, and conclusion-drawing skills. The broader goal is to help students become more capable and independent learners. Senior Instructors provide one-on-one instruction to a cohort of students, averaging approximately 20–24 instructional hours per week, and work with students and families throughout the test-preparation process. They collaborate with Test Prep Leadership to develop and carry out individualized plans, coordinate with colleagues in other departments to provide holistic student support, and assist with applications for testing accommodations when relevant. Approximately five hours per week initially will be set aside for departmental and professional contributions, which may include curriculum development, instructor coaching, family communication, student data analysis, or other initiatives, depending on the instructor’s expertise and interests. The role offers an established curriculum, instructional materials, assessment processes, student-management systems, administrative support, and a collaborative team environment. Instructors work at the Westport headquarters and are provided with a private classroom, whiteboard, and instructional materials. The position pays $85,000–$100,000, based on experience, and includes paid sick time, vacation time, holidays, medical, dental, and vision insurance, short- and long-term disability insurance, paid parental leave, and a 401(k) plan.
