SAT/ACT Tutor
About The Position
Top Score Education is hiring part-time, in-home SAT/ACT Tutors located in Washington, DC, Maryland, or Northern Virginia. Tutors provide personalized instruction to students in the DC metro area, with sessions scheduled after school on weekdays from 4–10 PM and on weekends. The role requires a minimum commitment of 10 teaching hours per week and a medium- to long-term commitment of at least two years. Tutors complete 50–60 hours of paid training and may have opportunities to tutor additional subjects or develop leadership skills. Remote work opportunities may be possible if a tutor leaves the DC area after a few years.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience tutoring the SAT and/or ACT.
- A SAT or ACT score at or above the 95th percentile.
- Passion for building positive, supportive relationships with students and families.
- Strong organization, attention to detail, time management, and adherence to processes.
- Excellent communication skills, responsiveness, and commitment to collaborative teamwork.
- Flexible availability for weekday evenings from 4–10 PM and weekends.
- Ability to teach at least 10 hours per week.
- Reliable access to a car and willingness to travel up to 30 minutes for in-home sessions.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Minimum commitment of 2 years.
Responsibilities
- Deliver 120-minute private, in-home SAT/ACT tutoring sessions to students in the DC metro area.
- Create customized lesson plans to address individual student needs and learning goals.
- Maintain consistent, positive communication with parents and students to build trust and rapport.
- Collaborate with the Top Score team to track student progress and refine tutoring strategies.
- Complete 50–60 hours of paid training.
