About the position
We are seeking a dynamic and versatile Senior Instructional Systems Designer (Sr. ISD) to join our team at Team CATHEXIS. As the Sr. ISD, you will be responsible for leading a small team of ISDs and overseeing the creation and maintenance of training courses for transitioning Service members, Veterans, and their families about the benefits and services available from VA. This role requires expertise in multi-modal design principles and development processes, as well as strong project management skills. Responsibilities
- Lead multi-modal (ILT, vILT, WBT) curriculum development projects from start to finish, including direct supervision of three Instructional Systems Designers.
- Perform comprehensive analysis and present technical and comprehensive updates of existing course content and materials to internal and client stakeholders to ensure courses remain current and adhere to adult learning principles, including alignment of content, learning objectives, engagement, and activities.
- Design and develop new Section 508 compliant instruction and training materials packages, including but not limited to slide presentations, classroom activities, worksheets/handouts, job aids, facilitator and participant guides and SCORM packages.
- Ensure alignment of enabling and terminal learning objectives, knowledge checks, and intermediate activities across all modalities for a consistent product.
- Lead the triage and dissemination of curricular inputs (e.g., SME and other stakeholder inputs, changes in policy) for cross-modality implementation, including coordination with other Sr. ISDs for inputs that are applicable to other curricular products.
- Cross-collaboration with project administrator and curricular supporting functions team members (508 compliance, graphic design, tech editing, etc) to facilitate orderly handoffs and on-time delivery.
- Track and drive project progress, including early identification of risks and associated mitigation strategies.
- Attend client meetings regularly and present relevant updates in a factual, concise manner.
- Conduct research and make recommendations on the continuing improvement of educational best practices, instructional resources, technologies, and multimedia hardware/software.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) required
- Master's degree (MA/MS) strongly preferred
- Minimum 5 years' experience providing instructional design and development for training courses
- Ability to lead multi-modal (ILT, vILT, WBT) curriculum development projects
- Experience in analyzing and updating existing course content and materials
- Knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design best practices
- Proficiency in project management tools such as Asana and SharePoint
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Familiarity with Section 508 compliance for instructional materials
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
- Strong research skills to identify and recommend educational best practices and technologies
