•$105,000 - $195,000•Hybrid

About The Position

Roo is seeking a Senior Growth Marketing Manager to grow its business with independent veterinary hospitals. The role owns hospital growth across the full funnel, from discovery and sign-up through first shift posted and filled, to repeat use. Success is measured by hospital activation and retention as well as sign-ups and leads. As the first dedicated growth marketer for the hospital business unit, this person will shape growth strategy, own the budget and measurement, and lead testing across the hospital journey. The role reports to the GM of Independent Hospitals, has a dotted line to Marketing leadership, and participates in Roo’s marketing guild. It works cross-functionally with sales, Hospital Success Partners, product, growth analytics, product marketing, lifecycle, pricing, analytics, brand, community, and the Veterinary Marketplace business unit. The position is remote-first; employees based in San Francisco work in a hybrid arrangement. Compensation varies by location tier: Tier 1, $140,000–$195,000; Tier 2, $125,000–$175,000; Tier 3, $120,000–$165,000; Tier 4, $110,000–$155,000; and Tier 5, $105,000–$145,000. The role is available in the US and Canada. Roo describes itself as a mission-driven, equal opportunity employer focused on empowering veterinary professionals and improving animal healthcare.

Requirements

  • Experience in growth or performance marketing to small businesses, ideally at a marketplace or vertical SaaS company.
  • Experience owning a marketing budget and channel mix.
  • Experience being accountable for outcomes beyond clicks, such as activation, first purchase, or customer retention, and adjusting spend based on results.
  • Ability to evaluate and defend marketing spend using customer acquisition cost, payback, and lifetime value.
  • Hands-on experience with paid search and social, sponsorships, partnerships, referrals, and direct mail.
  • Experience diagnosing why customers sign up but do not activate and improving conversion by addressing root causes.
  • Experience partnering with sales or account teams on lead scoring, routing, and handoffs, and evaluating which interactions affect outcomes.
  • Ability to allocate spend by geography and account for supply constraints in a two-sided marketplace.
  • Strong experimentation and measurement skills, including designing controlled tests, attribution, holdouts, data analysis, and communicating negative results to leadership.
  • Understanding of how small-business owners and practice managers make decisions; ability to write clearly for them and prepare effective briefs.
  • Ability to build alignment across sales, product, product marketing, lifecycle, pricing, and data teams without formal authority.
  • Comfort working in ambiguity and building programs from scratch.
  • Ability to use AI to scale personal output and a perspective on where agents can replace manual outreach.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience running account-based marketing programs for high-priority accounts alongside broad demand generation.
  • Experience in veterinary medicine, healthcare, marketplaces, or staffing.

Responsibilities

  • Own the hospital growth budget and channel mix, allocating spend by market tier and deciding what to scale, cut, or defer.
  • Manage hospital acquisition channels, including B2B lead generation and account-based campaigns with sales, direct-to-practice-manager paid search and social, direct mail, referrals, sponsorships, buying-group partnerships, SEO, and AEO priorities.
  • Own hospital-only acquisition campaigns and contribute the acquisition layer to company-wide campaigns led by the brand team.
  • Partner with brand and community teams on conferences, industry events, and webinars, including hospital targeting and attendee follow-up.
  • Work with sales, Revenue Operations, and analytics on hospital targeting and lead scoring.
  • Set lead routing, handoff service-level agreements, and criteria for assigning hospitals to a Hospital Success Partner or AI-driven outreach.
  • Own the conversion-rate-optimization backlog, testing roadmap, and first-fill playbook across landing pages, sign-up, approval, and first shift posted; partner with product on sign-up and first-shift experiences.
  • Develop, launch, and evaluate A/B tests and product experiments with product and growth analysts.
  • Analyze funnel data and customer and field-team feedback to identify hospital drop-off causes and implement fixes.
  • Partner with lifecycle on onboarding and activation journeys, providing audience insights, goals, and offers.
  • Partner with pricing on incentive strategy, including eligibility, offer selection, and payback relative to hospital lifetime value.
  • Brief brand on campaign creative, landing pages, and website updates using audience insights and performance learnings.
  • Partner with product marketing and brand on hospital positioning and messaging, and use channel and test results to improve them.
  • Own reactivation campaigns for dormant, churned, and unfilled-shift hospitals in partnership with lifecycle.
  • Build expansion programs that increase hospital usage and booking across more roles, such as veterinary technicians.
  • Own hospital growth measurement, including acquisition cost by channel, cohort activation, fill rates, lifetime value, payback, holdout standards, attribution, and success criteria for tests and programs.
  • Review results, shift investment toward effective approaches, and share progress, spending, and learnings with business-unit and marketing leadership.
