About The Position

At Provectus, the Senior Forward Deployed AI Engineer embeds with customers in regulated industries such as banking, insurance, and healthcare to understand their work and build and deploy production AI systems using Claude and AWS. The role focuses on delivering real systems to users and measurable business outcomes rather than prototypes or slide decks. Engineers take ownership from problem framing through production, work autonomously as part of the customer’s team, and adapt to new business functions and technology stacks across engagements. Engagements begin by learning the operator’s work and constraints from the inside. The engineer then works alongside the client and a Forward Deployed Executive to redesign the function and build the solution. Work includes Cowork Activation, Agentic SDLC, and Blueprint Activations in Financial Services and Healthcare. Provectus Blueprints provide working systems shipped previously for customers as a starting point; insights from engagements inform their continued development. The role also contributes to enterprise AI adoption and the tooling and frameworks of Provectus’s AI delivery practice.

Requirements

Typically 7 or more years of software-building experience, including a substantial amount of accountable production coding.
Currently hands-on and intending to remain hands-on.
Willingness to understand another person’s work before coding, with demonstrated ability to become conversant quickly in an unfamiliar business function.
Experience shipping GenAI/LLM systems to production, including addressing challenges that arise beyond the prototype stage.
Experience building or owning an evaluation suite for a non-deterministic system, and ability to explain what was measured and why.
Strong software engineering fundamentals and ability to become productive in an unfamiliar codebase or language.
Proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript.
Experience delivering cloud-native systems on AWS, including operational considerations for systems inherited by others.
Pre-sales experience.
Credibility with senior stakeholders, including the ability to discuss redesign with a business-unit head and scope with a CTO.
Comfort with ambiguity, ownership, and engagements that begin underspecified.
Hands-on experience with Claude, Claude Code, and Cowork, including skills, workflows, MCP, integrations, connectors, or custom harnesses.

Nice To Haves

Experience with containers and orchestration, such as Kubernetes or ECS, and production CI/CD.
Infrastructure-as-code depth with AWS CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform.
Open-source contributions or public writing on applied AI.
GCP or Azure experience.

Responsibilities

Spend the first weeks of each engagement learning the operator’s work and constraints from the inside.
Work with the client and a Forward Deployed Executive to rebuild a business function from first principles, and build the resulting system.
Embed in the customer’s team and process, work on real tasks, and autonomously own the method and delivery through production.
Deliver Cowork Activation, Agentic SDLC, and Blueprint Activations in Financial Services and Healthcare.
Help leading enterprises adopt AI, from strategy through first deployment.
Help build the tooling and frameworks of Provectus’s growing AI delivery practice.
Use and contribute to Provectus industry Blueprints, returning field learnings to the Blueprints.
