Senior Field Service Technician EV Charging Tier III

Zero Impact Builders•Ontario, CA
•$75,000 - $85,000

About The Position

ChargeTronix designs and builds modular DC fast chargers intended to be serviced in the field. The Senior (Tier III) Field Service Technician is the top technical field position on the service team and serves as the escalation point for difficult faults, commissions new sites, and turns recurring failures into documented root causes and field guidance. The technician works independently with little supervision and is trusted to make on-site safety and repair decisions. The role is responsible for uptime across a Southern California-based territory, mentoring Tier I/II technicians, serving as the primary on-site contact for customers and site hosts, and providing structured failure data to engineering. It reports to the Field Service Manager and has no direct reports, while serving as the technical lead for Tier I/II technicians in the territory. The position is full-time and exempt, with 75% or more travel. Travel includes multi-day regional vehicle trips and periodic out-of-state air travel; the technician is home most weekends. The schedule is generally Monday to Friday standard hours, with a paid on-call rotation and occasional weekend or after-hours work when a site is down. Compensation is $75,000 to $85,000 per year depending on experience, credentials, and platform depth, with per diem on travel days and an on-call differential in addition to base pay. The company provides medical, dental, and vision coverage; a 401(k); paid time off and holidays; a company vehicle, phone, laptop, tools, and PPE; and paid training and certification. The work is field-based and involves outdoor conditions in all weather, heat and cold, noisy environments, confined charger cabinet spaces, energized equipment, extended driving, and periodic air travel. Physical duties include frequent lifting and moving of 50 pounds and occasional heavier items with assistance or equipment. Reasonable accommodations will be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of hands-on electrical or electromechanical field service experience, including at least 3 years on EV charging equipment and at least 2 years on DC fast chargers rated 50 kW or above.

  • Reliability and planning skills for heavy travel and maximizing the number of sites served per trip.
  • Ability to regularly stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, climb, and work from ladders or lifts.
  • Ability to frequently lift and move 50 pounds and occasionally handle heavier items with assistance or equipment.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather, in heat and cold, in noisy environments, in confined cabinet spaces, and around energized equipment up to 480 VAC and 1,000 VDC with appropriate PPE.
  • Ability to drive a company vehicle for extended periods and fly periodically.
