About The Position

ChargeTronix is hiring a Senior (Tier III) Field Service Technician to serve as the top technical field position on its service team. The technician handles escalated DC fast-charger faults, commissions new sites, and turns recurring failures into root causes, field service bulletins, and work instructions. The role owns uptime across a Southern California-based territory, mentors Tier I/II technicians, serves as the primary on-site customer contact, and provides structured failure information to engineering. It requires independent work with little supervision and sound safety and repair judgments on site. The position reports to the Field Service Manager and has no direct reports, but serves as a technical lead for Tier I/II technicians in the territory. The work includes component-level diagnosis and repair of DC fast chargers; commissioning and acceptance testing; preventive maintenance, upgrades, and retrofits; reliability reporting and territory spares management; technician training; safety compliance; and accurate, timely service documentation. The technician uses charger logs, communication traces, electrical test equipment, and networking tools to diagnose issues and resolve customer-site problems. This is a full-time, exempt position with a Southern California home base and travel of 75% or more, including multi-day regional vehicle trips and periodic out-of-state air travel. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, with a paid on-call rotation and occasional weekend or after-hours work when a site is down. Technicians plan their own routes and workdays; they are generally home most weekends. Pay is $75,000–$85,000 per year depending on experience, credentials, and platform depth, with per diem on travel days and an on-call differential paid in addition to base salary. The role involves outdoor work in varied weather and noisy environments, work in confined charger cabinets and around energized equipment up to 480 VAC and 1,000 VDC with appropriate PPE, frequent lifting and movement of 50 pounds, and periodic heavier lifts with assistance or equipment. It also requires driving a company vehicle for extended periods and periodic air travel. ChargeTronix states that reasonable accommodations will be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
