Senior Director of Performance Creative

Thrive Market•Los Angeles, CA

About The Position

Thrive Market is seeking a Senior Director of Performance Creative to own performance creative end to end across Meta, TikTok, Google, YouTube, Reddit, and CTV. The role encompasses creative strategy, testing, team leadership, agency relationships, and the customer journey beyond the ad. The leader will build and run a structured experimentation program, diversify creative, develop briefs and concepts, manage creative partners, improve persona-based landing-page journeys, monitor creative fatigue, and make data-informed decisions in partnership with Growth, Measurement, and Analytics. This is a hands-on player-coach role leading and developing a performance creative team of approximately six people. The successful candidate will combine creative craft and direct-response experience with the ability to create scalable testing systems, use customer and performance insights to develop new concepts, and improve acquisition outcomes. The program operates with a lean production budget, with larger CTV and YouTube creative budgets expected to transition to this leader over time. Success is measured primarily by LTV:CAC, with supporting goals including improved ad-spend distribution, a 20% lift in end-to-end conversion, and efficient CPA as the program scales. The position requires the employee to be based in the United States and in the Central through Pacific time zones. It also requires travel to the Los Angeles headquarters twice a year for company summits, in summer and winter. Thrive Market describes itself as a Certified B Corporation, Public Benefit Corporation, and Climate Neutral Certified company.

Requirements

  • 10+ years in performance creative strategy, growth marketing, paid social, creative strategy, or related roles.
  • Led or served as the senior creative force behind a scaled, Meta-first paid acquisition program, with demonstrated creative that drove measurable customer acquisition.
  • Experience in consumer, cash-pay, direct-to-consumer subscription, or an equivalent heavy paid media environment.
  • Must be based in the Central through Pacific time zones.

Nice To Haves

  • Creative strategy, copy, or design background in direct response, with deep Meta and direct-response creative fluency, especially post-Andromeda.
  • Experience working with significant paid media budgets and high-volume creative testing programs.
  • Ability to build testing frameworks, iteration cadence, and a learning loop used across a team.
  • Experience with landing pages, landing-page content and design, and partnership with UX.
  • Experience managing external creative partners and ideally leading an agency evaluation or transition.
  • Experience in subscription DTC or a comparable high-velocity consumer acquisition business, such as healthy living, food and wellness, telehealth, or fitness.

Responsibilities

  • Own the performance creative testing roadmap, deciding what to produce and test and how to iterate on winning creative.
  • Build a structured experimentation program across hooks, messages, personas, products, formats, creators, whitelisting, and offers, and turn learnings into future briefs.
  • Diversify creative concepts and formats to reduce dependence on a small number of winning ads and improve the distribution of spend.
  • Translate customer research, reviews, social listening, competitive intelligence, and performance data into creative opportunities; write briefs, develop concepts, and maintain the creative pipeline.
  • Manage performance creative agency relationships, including the current relationship with TubeScience; evaluate, select, onboard, and manage external partners as the roster evolves.
  • Own the performance customer journey beyond the ad, including personalized landing pages and landing-page content and design improvements, in partnership with UX.
  • Monitor creative fatigue and maintain a pipeline to replace winning ads before performance declines.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the approximately six-person performance creative team, fostering experimentation, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Partner with the Senior Director, Growth on testing priorities and channel strategy.
  • Partner with Measurement and Analytics on performance readouts, including Northbeam attribution and Haus incrementality.
  • Manage a lean production budget, with larger CTV and YouTube creative budgets expected to move to the role over time.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive health benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability coverage.
  • Competitive salary and equity.
  • 401(k) plan.
  • Nine observed holidays.
  • Flexible paid time off.
  • Subsidized ClassPass membership with access to fitness classes and wellness and beauty experiences.
  • Ability to work in the company's office in Playa Vista.
