About The Position

Tekmetric is seeking a senior strategy and deal-making leader to own the acquisition, licensing, and ongoing management of OEM repair information for integration into its shop management system. The role sets the acquisition roadmap across approximately 54 vehicle brands sold in the United States, determines which manufacturers to pursue and when, builds OEM relationships, negotiates agreements, and ensures licensed content is complete and faithfully represented in the product. It has executive visibility and serves as Tekmetric’s representative to the OEM service-information community. The role partners with Legal, Product, Engineering, and Finance; product teams own what is built, while this role owns the content and relationships that enable it. The Senior Director will develop acquisition targets and report progress and blockers to the CEO and executive team; map OEM decision-makers; represent Tekmetric at industry events; and lead negotiations covering commercial terms, content scope, usage, delivery, and AI rights. In partnership with Legal, the role will establish reusable agreements and negotiation processes. It will also shepherd content from contract signature to launch, verify content completeness and fidelity, manage quality and compliance, lead renewals and renegotiations, and define the operating model needed to manage a 54-brand portfolio at scale. The role is remote or hybrid depending on proximity to Tekmetric office hubs. Travel is expected, including frequent travel and multi-day trips to OEM headquarters, with occasional international travel. Team and company-wide offsites occur several times a year and attendance is expected. Tekmetric describes its culture as collaborative, fast-moving, ownership-oriented, and focused on meaningful results.

Requirements

  • 15 or more years of experience in the automotive repair-information or vehicle-data industry, such as at a repair-information provider, diagnostics or data aggregator, or an OEM aftermarket-licensing group.
  • At least 5 years in a director-level or higher role primarily chartered with OEM relations and business development.
  • Personal ownership of strategic relationships with at least 15 vehicle manufacturers across domestic, European, and Asian brands.
  • A record of negotiating and renegotiating multi-year, multi-million-dollar content and data agreements, including licensing deals, MSAs, or DaaS contracts, on both the buy and sell sides.
  • Established relationships with service-information and licensing decision-makers at multiple OEMs, and credibility in industry forums such as NASTF, SEMA, AAPEX, and the Auto Care Association.
  • Deep working knowledge of how OEMs author, structure, and publish procedures, specifications, wiring information, TSBs, and labor data; related delivery formats and portals; and how to assess complete brand coverage.
  • Ability to negotiate full agreement terms, including redistribution and display rights, derivative-work rights, update obligations, audit and compliance, and indemnification, in partnership with counsel.
  • A current perspective on AI and licensed content, including the distinctions among indexing, retrieval, summarization, and generation, and an understanding of OEM acceptance of AI usage rights.
  • Experience delivering licensed or proprietary data into SaaS and DaaS products alongside engineering teams and verifying completeness and fidelity in production.
  • Executive presence and ability to operate autonomously alongside the CEO, set and defend strategy, report candidly, and adjust as the market changes.
  • Deep respect for independent repair shops and technicians.
  • Ability to travel frequently, including multi-day trips to OEM headquarters and occasional international travel.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior leadership at Mitchell 1, ALLDATA, Identifix/Solera, MOTOR, a comparable repair-information business, or an OEM service-information or licensing group.
  • Working familiarity with Right to Repair legislation, the OEM–aftermarket MOU, and NASTF’s Secure Data Release Model.
  • Experience launching new data or information products and revenue lines from zero, including initial partnerships and playbooks.
  • Intellectual-property experience involving patents or proprietary data assets in the automotive aftermarket.
  • Technician background, such as ASE or I-CAR, or experience in and around independent repair shops.

Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain the acquisition roadmap for service information from approximately 54 vehicle brands sold in the United States, prioritizing manufacturers based on customer vehicle parc, deal feasibility, and strategic value.

  • Monitor Right to Repair, NASTF, and the OEM service-information landscape and use developments to inform negotiation timing and strategy.
  • Map OEM decision structures and identify the people responsible for service-information licensing.
  • Build OEM relationships from initial outreach through signed agreement, and represent Tekmetric at NASTF, SEMA, AAPEX, and OEM events.
  • Position Tekmetric’s integrated repair guide as a distribution channel for OEM procedures.
  • Lead end-to-end commercial negotiations of OEM content agreements, including pricing, content scope, update cadence, delivery format, territory, and term.
  • Partner with Legal on agreement terms covering service, redistribution and display rights, derivative-work rights, attribution, audit and compliance, and indemnification.
  • Lead negotiations over AI usage rights, develop standard and fallback positions, and seek OEM acceptance of terms for use of AI with licensed content.
  • Build reusable deal infrastructure, including a master template, term-sheet playbook, and negotiation record.
  • Work with Product and Engineering on content delivery, ingestion, structure, and display, and shepherd each OEM from signature to live product.
  • Ensure licensed procedures, specifications, diagrams, TSBs, wiring information, and labor data are represented accurately and usefully.
  • Run content quality processes, including agreement coverage checks, update-currency monitoring, defect reporting to OEMs, and compliance with display and attribution terms.
  • Own renewal strategy and negotiations for OEM agreements, including repricing, scope expansion, and renegotiation of AI rights.
