About The Position

WM is hiring a Senior Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair trucks and equipment serving communities across the United States. The role works with diesel equipment and, at some locations, the company’s growing fleet of compressed natural gas (CNG) trucks. Mechanics use modern tools and procedures to perform maintenance and help ensure vehicles operate safely.

The position is based at WM’s Vicksburg, Mississippi hauling site, with the normal work setting being a repair and maintenance shop. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional Saturdays. Compensation starts at $33 or more per hour, depending on experience, and the posting offers a $5,000 sign-on bonus and benefits beginning on day one.

Requirements

• Four years of relevant work experience.
• A valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
• Be over 18 years of age.
• Be legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Successfully complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical.

Nice To Haves

• A commercial driver's license (CDL) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on a range of vehicles and equipment.
• Estimate time and material costs for vehicle repairs and new parts.
• Perform work within Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs).
• Respond to emergency breakdown service calls.
• Perform vehicle safety checks.
• Complete required paperwork, document parts usage, and account for repair times.
• Review, complete, or assign repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards, and follow established safety procedures.
