About The Position
WM is hiring a Diesel Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel equipment and vehicles serving its customers. Mechanics use modern tools and procedures to maintain diesel equipment and, at some locations, CNG trucks. The position is based at a repair and maintenance shop at WM’s Meridian, Mississippi hauling site, with work performed both indoors and outdoors. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 10:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with occasional Saturdays as needed. Starting pay is $24–$30+ per hour depending on experience, and the role includes a $5,000 sign-on bonus and benefits beginning on day one. The position requires two years of relevant work experience, a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, and the ability to meet the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
Requirements
- Two years of relevant work experience.
- A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.

- Must successfully complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical.

Responsibilities
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
- Estimate time and material costs for vehicle repairs and new parts.
- Perform work within Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs).
- Respond to emergency service calls for breakdowns.
- Conduct vehicle safety checks.
- Complete required paperwork, document parts usage, and account for repair times.
- Assist senior Mechanics with project work.
- Review, complete, or assign repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with Corporate and OSHA standards, and follow established safety procedures.
