About The Position

WM is hiring a Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair trucks and equipment used to serve customers. The role involves work in a repair and maintenance shop at the Meridian, Mississippi hauling site, with occasional work outdoors and in varying weather. Mechanics use modern tools and procedures to service diesel equipment and, at some locations, CNG trucks. The position offers a starting wage of $24–$30+ per hour depending on experience, stable hours, a $5,000 sign-on bonus, and benefits. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 10:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with occasional Saturdays as needed.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of relevant work experience.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Must be over 18 years of age.
• Legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
• Estimate time and material costs for vehicle repairs and new parts.
• Perform work within Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs).
• Respond to emergency breakdown service calls.
• Perform vehicle safety checks.
• Complete required paperwork, document parts usage, and account for repair times.
• Assist senior Mechanics with project work.
• Review, complete, or assign repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with Corporate and OSHA standards, and follow established safety procedures.
