About The Position
WM is hiring a Senior Diesel Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, and repair trucks and other equipment used to serve its customers. The role works on diesel equipment and, at some locations, CNG trucks, using modern tools and procedures. The normal work setting is a repair and maintenance shop at WM’s Vicksburg, Mississippi hauling site, with work both indoors and outdoors. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional Saturdays. Starting pay is $33 or more per hour, depending on experience, and the position includes a $5,000 sign-on bonus and benefits beginning on day one.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of relevant work experience.
- A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Must be over 18 years of age.
- Legally eligible to work in the United States.
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Successfully complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical.
Nice To Haves
- A commercial driver’s license (CDL) is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on a range of vehicles and equipment.
- Estimate time and material costs for vehicle repairs and new parts.
- Perform work within Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs).
- Respond to emergency breakdown service calls.
- Conduct vehicle safety checks.
- Complete required paperwork, document parts usage, and account for repair times.
- Review, complete, or assign repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
- Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate and OSHA standards and follow established safety procedures.
