Senior Copywriter | Technical

Barkley is seeking a Senior Writer with technical writing experience in animal health, livestock, and food ingredients to join their creative team in Kansas City. The ideal candidate should have a passion for writing and the ability to conceptualize projects of various sizes. They should also possess strong attention to detail and the ability to effectively communicate technical information for regulated industries. This role offers the opportunity to work with globally-recognized brands across diverse marketing mediums, while being part of a dynamic and driven team. The Senior Writer will be responsible for understanding the client's business, ensuring regulatory compliance, developing creative strategies, and executing advertising campaigns in line with the agreed-upon strategy.

Gain a thorough understanding of the client’s business and industry.

Promote regulatory consistency and FDA compliance during project lifecycles, including fact checking with accurate referencing and citations.

Develop creative strategies and ideas that are innovative and that sell.

Concept and execute advertising consistent with the agreed-upon strategy.

Under the direction of the Creative Director, see all work through completion on time and on budget.

• 3+ years writing experience within a healthcare or pharmaceutical advertising agency environment
• Thorough knowledge of current AMA style
• Technical writing experience in animal health, livestock, and food ingredients
• Ability to digest, synthesize, and write technical information for regulated industries
• Meticulous mind with attention to detail
• Ability to concept and execute advertising consistent with the agreed-upon strategy
• Familiarity with regulatory consistency and FDA compliance
• Ability to fact check with accurate referencing and citations
• Ability to work collaboratively with a team
• Strong presentation skills for presenting creative materials to clients
• Familiarity with the project lifecycle of pharmaceutical advertising materials

• Work productively and harmoniously as a teammate with Brand leaders, Art Directors, Designers, and Project Managers
• Present creative materials to clients
• Review proofs, rough cuts, etc. for accuracy before final production
• 3+ years writing experience within a healthcare or pharmaceutical advertising agency environment
• Thorough knowledge of current AMA style; experience with medical, regulatory, legal reviews
• Extremely detail-oriented, thorough, and accurate with the ability to understand and write medical and scientific terminology
• Demonstrated ability to think creatively and provide marketable solutions
• Proven experience managing rapidly shifting priorities and deadlines in high-pressure situations
