About The Position

Gallagher Bassett is hiring a Senior Claims Adjuster for an auto subrogation desk handling claims in Michigan. The role is eligible for fully remote work. The adjuster investigates, evaluates, disposes of, and settles complex claims and high exposures with minimal supervision, handling a full caseload that may include cases of increased severity. The position requires evaluating coverage, liability, and damages; setting appropriate reserves; exercising sound judgment about claim exposure and next steps; and settling claims appropriately. The adjuster works extensively with parties involved in the claim process, communicates concise action plans, and presents plans for moving cases to conclusion. The role also requires thorough knowledge of the claim file process, compliance with client and corporate policies and applicable statutory, regulatory, and ethical requirements, adherence to carrier reporting and threshold requirements, and recognition and pursuit of excess insurance recoveries.

Requirements

High school diploma.
At least 5 years of related claims experience.
At least 5 years of experience handling auto subrogation and trucking claims.
Multi-jurisdictional experience.
Appropriate licensure and/or certification in all states where claims are handled, or ability to obtain them in accordance with local requirements.
Extensive knowledge of accepted industry standards and practices.
Computer experience with related claims and business software.

Adjuster license, preferably all-lines or auto.
Bachelor's degree.

Responsibilities

Investigate, evaluate, dispose of, and settle complex claims and claims with high exposures with minimal supervision.
Determine and evaluate coverage, liability, and damages, and set appropriate reserves.
Analyze claims exposure and determine the appropriate course of action and settlement.
Interact extensively with parties involved in the claim process.
Communicate concise action plans and present plans for moving cases to conclusion.
Demonstrate knowledge of the claim file process through claim actions and responses to client questions.
Process claims in accordance with client and corporate policies, procedures, best practices, and applicable statutory, regulatory, and ethical requirements.
Comply with carrier reporting and threshold requirements.
Recognize and pursue excess insurance recoveries.
Manage a full caseload, including cases of increased severity.
