Senior Analyst, Strategy & Corporate Development
About The Position
Axon’s Strategy & Corporate Development team evaluates and executes acquisitions, investments, partnerships, and other strategic initiatives. It also helps formulate Axon’s long-term strategic direction and inform capital and resource allocation decisions. The team develops positions on key questions that influence the value and long-term competitive advantage of Axon’s business. The Senior Analyst will work closely with Axon’s executive team and product leaders on high-impact projects, including M&A, investments, and other strategic initiatives. The role involves evaluating opportunities, supporting diligence and deal execution, managing aspects of the investment portfolio, and contributing to strategic and corporate finance analyses. The position is based at an Axon hub and follows a hybrid schedule: onsite Tuesday through Friday and remote on Monday, unless an approved workplace accommodation applies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree.
- At least 3 years of experience at a top-tier bulge bracket, boutique investment bank, or private equity firm, focused on M&A, investing, and/or capital raising.
- Passion for Axon’s mission to Protect Life and for making a positive impact on society.
- High energy, low ego, and a can-do attitude.
- Proven M&A and investment process execution experience.
- Expert Excel skills, including advanced financial modeling and valuation proficiency.
- Advanced PowerPoint skills and comfort presenting to internal and external executive audiences.
- Excellent hypothesis-driven problem-solving skills and ability to structure quantitative and qualitative insights.
- Ability to quickly understand software and business technology markets, trends, and dynamics.
- Ability to work across teams and with external partners to solve challenging problems.
- Strong understanding of markets, competition, and using core competencies to create defensible strategies.
- Ability to synthesize and communicate complex analysis and ideas clearly, verbally and in writing.
- Ability to manage, prioritize, and advance numerous mission-critical projects simultaneously, with exceptional organizational skills.
Responsibilities
- Develop a deep understanding of Axon’s product offering and roadmap, competitive landscape, and broader ecosystem.
- Perform quantitative and qualitative analyses of potential M&A and investment areas and opportunities, including market analyses and financial modeling.
- Partner with executive leadership to formulate and communicate objective theses and prioritize M&A and investment opportunities.
- Drive end-to-end M&A and investment diligence and execution, and help manage Axon’s investment portfolio.
- Work with Product, Sales, Supply Chain, Finance/Accounting, Legal, and People Operations on diligence and deal execution.
- Help develop M&A and investment processes into a core competency and center of excellence at Axon.
- Build quarterly presentations for Axon’s Board of Directors covering Strategy & Corporate Development updates and opportunities.
- Perform ad hoc corporate finance analyses supporting Axon’s capital structure roadmap and coordinate execution of capital market transactions.
- Independently tackle ambiguous questions and own projects from problem definition through final recommendation.
- Frame and influence Axon’s strategic decisions with a high degree of ownership.
