Senior Analog and Mixed Signal Engineer

NVIDIA•Santa Clara, CA
•$168,000 - $310,500

About The Position

NVIDIA’s global circuits team designs state-of-the-art GPUs for applications including supercomputers, gaming consoles, and self-driving cars. The team focuses on architecture and design of CMOS high-speed chip interfaces and complex analog functions. In this role, you will help design and implement high-speed interfaces and complex mixed-signal circuits using sub-micron CMOS technologies and EDA tools. You will contribute to architecture studies, circuit design and simulation, floor-planning, mask-design instruction, reliability verification, silicon bring-up, physical design, silicon evaluation, and technology transfer to product development teams.

Requirements

  • BSEE or equivalent experience; an MS is preferred.
  • At least 6 years of industry experience in deep-submicron CMOS technologies.
  • Analytical and intuitive understanding of transistor-level analog design, layout, and simulation.
  • Hands-on design experience with performance analog and hybrid phase-locked loops and ADC/DAC data converters.
  • Experience with analog subcells such as VCOs, LDOs, bandgaps, charge pumps, op-amps, and interpolator circuits.
  • Experience with deep-submicron processes.
  • Experience with simulation tools such as Spectre, HSPICE, AFS, MATLAB, SystemVerilog, and Python.
  • Proficiency with Cadence custom circuit design tools such as ADE-L and ADE-XL.
  • Understanding and experience running Monte Carlo and noise simulations and stability analysis.
  • Ability to understand DRC and LVS results using verification tools such as Calibre, ICV, or similar.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team, with good interpersonal skills, enthusiasm, and positive energy.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with digital PLLs, TDC, or DSP and control theory related to digital PLLs.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Perl, Python, or MATLAB.
  • An MS degree.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement high-speed interfaces and complex mixed-signal circuits using sub-micron CMOS technologies and EDA tools.
  • Design high-speed analog and hybrid phase-locked loops and associated blocks, including VCOs, charge pumps, dividers, state machines, LDOs, bandgaps, TDCs, interpolators, and high-speed buffers.
  • Design ADC and DAC data converters, contributing to architecture development and transistor-level circuit design of associated blocks such as comparators, digital state machines, and high-performance op-amps.
  • Work with mask-design engineers to deliver physical design and with characterization groups on silicon evaluation.
  • Support technology transfer to product-development teams.
  • Conduct architecture studies, circuit designs and simulations, floor-planning, mask-designer instruction, reliability verification, and silicon bring-up.
