Customer Service - Self Storage Manager

About The Position

Public Storage is hiring a Self Storage Manager to work independently across multiple locations. The role involves helping customers determine their storage needs and recommending storage options and packing and moving supplies. Managers also inspect storage units, handle cash drawer audits and bank deposits, and contact customers about payments and collections. The work includes time indoors and outdoors, as well as cleaning and routine property maintenance. The position offers $18.50 per hour and flexible, full-time schedules within operating hours of 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., with weekend hours until 5 p.m. Employees working an average of 20 or more hours may become eligible for full-time benefits. Mileage reimbursement is provided for travel between properties and other work-related tasks, and Property Managers may earn performance-based bonuses.

Requirements

Experience in a customer-service-centered sales environment; candidates may come from retail, restaurant, fast food, or other service-based companies.
Valid driver’s license.
Use of a personal vehicle to travel between work locations or conduct other work-related business.
Ability to lift, move, or transport items weighing up to 35 pounds.
Ability to walk around facilities, climb stairs, and open large doors.
Ability to spend up to 50% of work time outdoors.

Responsibilities

Assess customers’ storage needs and recommend suitable options.
Sell packing and moving supplies.
Inspect storage units daily to confirm inventory and availability and ensure units are ready to rent.
Audit cash drawers and make bank deposits.
Help customers stay current with payments and make reminder and collection calls when required.
Travel between multiple properties and other work-related locations using a personal vehicle.
Clean and maintain facilities, including sweeping and mopping interior areas and keeping exterior grounds clean and free of debris.
