About The Position
The Self-Checkout Coordinator provides quality customer service while keeping the self-checkout area clean, safe, organized, and stocked with products customers need. The role is an important part of customers’ final interactions before leaving the store and is expected to encourage customer satisfaction and return visits while upholding Tony’s Fresh Markets’ core values. The coordinator operates front-end equipment and oversees self-checkout units, assisting multiple customers and monitoring scanning accuracy. The role also involves maintaining standards for cleanliness, organization, customer service, safety, loss prevention, sanitation, store conditions, and food safety. The position requires continuous walking and standing throughout the shift and lifting up to 20 pounds, with occasional lifting up to 30 pounds. Duties may be revised, and other tasks may be assigned as business conditions change.
Requirements
- Customer service and retail experience are desirable.
- Ability to walk and stand continuously throughout the shift.
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.
Nice To Haves
- Bilingual in Spanish and English is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Operate front-end equipment, including a register, calculator, and scanner.
- Oversee self-checkout units and provide excellent customer service.
- Engage with customers, assist multiple customers at once, and anticipate issues before they occur.
- Monitor scanning activity to ensure accuracy.
- Invite customers to use self-checkout lanes, particularly when other lanes are forming lines.
- Meet the expectations of internal and external customers and demonstrate care, compassion, empathy, and concern.
- Build and maintain positive team relationships and relate well to diverse people.
- Communicate and enforce standards for quality, cleanliness, organization, customer service, safety, loss prevention, sanitation, store conditions, and food safety.
- Practice safe work habits and encourage others to do the same.
- Maintain the presentation, cleanliness, and organization of the work area, including personal uniform and appearance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
