About The Position

Security Officers help create a safe, welcoming environment for guests and employees at MGM National Harbor. The role includes patrolling the property, monitoring cameras and alarms, responding to emergencies, supporting guests and team members, handling secure gaming transactions, and documenting activity and incidents. Officers communicate by phone and two-way radio, coordinate with emergency responders, and help secure areas and lead evacuations when needed. Schedules may change based on business needs and include day, swing, and grave shifts. Day shifts are 6:45 a.m.–3:30 p.m. with 8-hour shifts and two days off; swing shifts are 2:45 p.m.–11:30 p.m. with 8-hour shifts and two days off; grave shifts are 9:00 p.m.–7:45 a.m. with 10-hour shifts and three days off.

Requirements

• At least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver's license in good standing; it must not be expired, suspended, or revoked.
• At least one year of customer service experience.

Responsibilities

• Monitor interior and exterior property areas by foot, bicycle, or company vehicle.
• Conduct active patrols and monitor camera surveillance and alarm systems for irregularities.
• Respond professionally to guest and employee concerns while maintaining a calm and courteous presence.
• Act as a first responder in emergencies, administer first aid when required, and follow reporting protocols.
• Handle secure gaming transactions and drops accurately.
• Prepare detailed reports on daily activity, incidents, property damage, and unusual occurrences.
• Manage communications by phone and two-way radio and dispatch information as needed.
• Help secure areas, coordinate with emergency responders, and lead evacuation procedures during urgent situations.
• Maintain required certifications in legal procedures, defensive tactics, CPR/AED, and first aid, and complete regular training on assigned equipment.
