About The Position

Allied Universal is hiring a part-time, unarmed Security Officer for a government maritime facility in Norfolk, Virginia. The officer will serve and safeguard clients by monitoring and patrolling assigned areas, maintaining a visible presence to deter security-related incidents, and providing professional customer service and communication. The role involves supporting a welcoming environment and responding to security concerns with integrity and teamwork. The scheduled shifts are Wednesday from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM and Friday from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM. The pay rate is $18.00 per hour. Officers may use Allied Universal’s Claim a Shift platform to view and claim additional shifts.

Requirements

Possess a TSA-issued Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles.
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
Submit to a background investigation in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
Submit to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.

Responsibilities

Provide customer service to visitors, employees, and authorized personnel by following site-specific procedures, access-control protocols, and emergency response activities.
Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of buildings, parking areas, waterfront-adjacent areas, gates, and perimeter locations, and report unusual conditions and potential security concerns.
Monitor access points, verify credentials and visitor authorization as directed, and maintain accurate logs and incident documentation.
Respond calmly and professionally to incidents, alarms, and critical situations, contacting appropriate personnel or emergency responders when needed.
Help deter unauthorized access, theft, trespassing, and disruptive activity through visible patrols and timely reporting.
