Security Officer Part Time College Campus Patrol
About The Position
Allied Universal is hiring a part-time Unarmed Patrol Officer at an educational location in Brooklyn, New York. The officer will monitor and patrol assigned campus areas, maintain a visible presence to help deter incidents, and support a welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. The role includes responding to security-related concerns, communicating professionally, and documenting activity using site technology. The position is scheduled Wednesday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Friday from 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM, and Sunday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The pay rate is $20.35–$21.35 per hour.
Requirements
- Possess a valid New York State Security Guard License.
- Have at least one year of security-related experience.
- Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Applicants are subject to a background investigation in accordance with applicable laws.
- Applicants are subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Licensing requirements may apply prior to employment, subject to state and local laws and regulations.
Nice To Haves
- Customer service experience is preferred.
- CPR and First Aid certification is preferred.
- Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service to students, staff, visitors, and faculty by carrying out security procedures, site-specific policies, and, when appropriate, emergency response activities.
- Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of campus buildings, grounds, parking areas, and perimeter locations to deter unauthorized activity and identify potential concerns.
- Respond calmly and professionally to incidents, alarms, and critical situations, follow site-specific protocols, and escalate matters as appropriate.
- Monitor access points and visitor activity, verify credentials when required, and report unusual conditions or policy violations to site leadership.
- Prepare accurate reports and maintain clear communication with Allied Universal leadership, campus personnel, and emergency responders as needed.
