About The Position

Under the direction of the Security Supervisor, the Security Officer L1 performs administrative and operational duties for a site security team and works closely with the Data Center Operations Team to ensure security measures are in place and functioning properly. This experienced, client-facing role helps protect personnel and company property by managing access control, monitoring CCTV systems, responding to incidents, and completing written reports. The officer collaborates with other departments, including Shipping and Receiving, and enforces security procedures established by the Security Management team. The schedule is night shift, Sunday through Thursday. The position is on-site in a data center environment and requires the employee to follow PPE guidance, wear the NTT security uniform, and be available for emergencies and on-call protocol.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least one year in a security role, or an equivalent combination of education and professional background.
• Experience with standard security-team methods, practices, tools, and equipment.
• Strong observation and surveillance skills and the ability to detect and respond effectively to security threats.
• Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety rules.
• Ability to remain calm in an emergency.
• Excellent client-facing customer service and clear, concise written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work in a rigorous, process-driven team environment; follow instructions and security procedures; analyze and solve problems logically; and multitask.
• Strong organizational skills and a strong team-player approach.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule as required.
• Demonstrated integrity, honesty, and reliability in fulfilling security responsibilities.
• Active certifications such as Certified Security Guard (CSG) or Certified Protection Officer (CPO), as mandated by state regulations, must be obtained within six months of starting employment and maintained throughout employment.
• Ability to walk, stand, bend, and reach for extended periods; hear, speak, use a telephone and walkie-talkie; perform close visual computer work; and operate a keyboard, mouse, and other technical instruments.
• Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds and climb stairs and ladders.
• Ability to work on-site in a data center environment, including outdoors in varying weather, temperatures, and loud noise, and with exposure to unpleasant fumes and odors.
• Ability to follow PPE guidelines, wear the NTT security uniform, and adhere to NTT's dress code and personal standards.
• Comfort working in a highly critical, confidential, fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and responding to data center emergencies.
• Willingness to work outside normal business hours, including weekends, late nights, and holidays, and participate in on-call protocol.
• Participation in some capacity in the Bring Your Own Device program, using a cellular-connected smart mobile device capable of downloading active applications.
• Valid driver's license; the role may require supporting nearby buildings and using company vehicles.
• Must pass a background check and drug test.
• Must possess or become forklift certified; NTT provides initial and ongoing certification training.

Nice To Haves

• Additional education or training in security-related fields.
• Prior experience in a data center or similar environment.
• Prior experience administering and operating access control systems, CCTV systems with digital recording, and photo ID systems.
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications.
• CPR/First Aid certification; it may also be obtained while working for NTT.

Responsibilities

• Ensure employees, clients, vendors, and visitors on company property have proper company-issued identification.
• Patrol assigned posts on foot, maintain visibility, and observe possible unusual activity.
• Help provide clients, associates, and NTT Data Center personnel with a safe and professional work environment.
• Monitor and maintain security technologies, including CCTV and access control systems.
• Investigate, address, and report security, maintenance, and safety conditions.
• Complete concise and accurate daily documentation, including Shift Activity Reports, Incident Reports, and Shift Passdown Logs.
• Follow NTT Data policies, security procedure manuals, and other company policies.
• Assist personnel with security-related requests and guide them on security processes and protocols.
• Complete assigned access control, combustible, and badge discrepancy audits.
• Assist with Shipping and Receiving, including accepting, logging, and tracking shipments when the primary S&R Officer is unavailable.
• Respond to site emergencies and coordinate with local emergency services.
• Investigate and report fires, evacuations, hazardous situations, and other facility-related events.
• Thoroughly investigate security-related accidents and incidents, including interviewing witnesses, complainants, and victims.
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance and perform other job-related duties as assigned.
